Dany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After spending 20 years as a construction manager for reputable general contractors in Boston, New York, and Washington, D.C., I saw firsthand the importance of quality and professionalism in the construction industry. However, upon relocating to South Florida, I was struck by a troubling trend: the lack of reliable, responsive, and quality-focused builders in the region.
With a civil engineering background and a passion for excellence, I decided to establish Builcore with a simple yet ambitious vision: to raise the bar in the construction industry by focusing on Quality, not only in the craftsmanship of the work but also in the way we communicate, collaborate, and deliver a seamless client experience.
Recognizing the importance of strong business acumen, I pursued an MBA at the University of Miami, which helped me sharpen my business management skills, integrate into the local professional community, and build relationships with diverse experts, further strengthening my ability to lead a successful construction company.
However, starting Builcore was far from easy. I did not have any clients, and I did not know any trustworthy and skilled vendors. I had to start from scratch in a new market. Every success was earned through persistence and hard work, building the company brick by brick. Along the way, I was fortunate to meet dedicated professionals who shared my vision and values. Many of these team members are still with Builcore today, forming the backbone of our success.
Since its founding, Builcore has become synonymous with reliability, responsiveness, and excellence. We’ve grown by staying true to our mission and by delivering on our promise of quality—not just in construction but in every aspect of the client experience.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting any business is inherently challenging, but launching a general contracting firm comes with its own set of complexities. The construction industry, with its high liability and low margin for error, presents obstacles that can make or break a company. Reflecting on my journey to establish Builcore, here are some of the key challenges I faced and how I worked to overcome them.
One of the first hurdles was obtaining the State General Contracting license, which requires not only extensive knowledge of construction but also practical experience. The rigorous process underscores the importance of credibility in the industry but also acts as a major barrier to entry for aspiring contractors.
When I relocated to South Florida, I found myself starting from scratch. Having spent years in the Northeast, I had developed a reliable network of vendors and subcontractors there. In Florida, however, I had no such connections. Construction depends heavily on the quality of the vendors involved. I had to conduct thorough research, vet potential partners, and slowly build relationships with those who could meet the high standards of my projects. Selecting an unreliable vendor could jeopardize not only a project but also my reputation with clients. This meant investing significant time in identifying professionals I could trust to get the job done.
Perhaps the biggest challenge of all was proving myself to a new market. As a newcomer, I had to demonstrate to potential clients that I not only had the expertise to execute their projects but also the reliability to deliver on my promises. Without an established portfolio in the region, convincing clients to take a chance on my firm required persistence, professionalism, and a focus on exceeding expectations.
South Florida has long been known for its shortage of skilled professionals in the construction industry, making talent acquisition particularly challenging, and identifying individuals who shared my commitment to quality and professionalism took years. Creating an environment where skilled workers wanted to stay was equally important. By fostering a culture of respect, growth, and excellence, I was able to assemble a dedicated team over time.
Through these challenges, I learned that success in the construction industry demands a mix of resilience, adaptability, and meticulous attention to detail. Whether it was spending hours researching local vendors, forging relationships with clients and officials, or cultivating a talented team, every step was a building block for Builcore’s foundation of quality and reliability. It wasn’t an easy journey, but the lessons and relationships gained along the way have made all the difference.

I am blessed to be married to a beautiful and inspiring woman who has positively and profoundly impacted my life. Her support and love have been instrumental in helping me achieve my dreams and remain grounded through every challenge.
Together, we are raising three precious girls who light up my life every day. Just thinking of them brings a smile to my face—they are my greatest motivation and the reason I strive to be better in everything I do.
Beyond my family, I feel incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by amazing people who have enriched my life over the years. From close friends who have stood by me to the wonderful team of professionals I work with at Builcore, these relationships are a cornerstone of my happiness.
