Portraits of Miami

It’s more important to understand someone than to judge them. We think the first step to understanding someone is asking them the fundamental questions about who they are and how they became the person they are today. Understanding and empathy are essential building blocks for a better, more compassionate world. We’re incredibly fortunate to be able to ask these questions each week through our interview series. Below you’ll find inspiring interviews from in and around Miami.

Emmy Adelle

My dad was in a boy band, my mom played percussion, and they’d play Beethoven to help me sleep as a baby. So naturally, by the time I hit elementary school, I was writing my own songs and singing in talent shows. My “music phase” stuck around longer than my lacrosse phase, and soon I was dabbling in everything: upright bass in orchestra, percussion in band, classical piano, drum set, electric bass—you name it, I probably tried it. In eighth grade, I produced my first song on GarageBand, and by high school, I was recording songs in secret. I never shared them, though—fear of judgment is a great motivator to keep your SoundCloud account private. Read More>>

It’s often said that certain paths choose us rather than the other way around, and that’s exactly what happened to me. I have a master’s degree in psychology, which has always been a deep passion of mine. This background now plays a significant role in the work I do as a bioresonance therapist, especially since my specialty is mental health—a focus I feel strongly about, even though bioresonance offers so much more to the world. That’s how my brand- Rani and Bloom came to life. The name itself is intentional: “Rani,” meaning queen, is a tribute to the cultural strength and pride I carry, while “Bloom” represents growth, evolution, and stepping fully into one’s power. I wanted this platform to be more than a brand—I envisioned a movement, a safe space where women like me could feel seen, celebrated, and inspired to own every part of their identity. Read More>>

I started out working as a physical therapist in a pediatric outpatient clinic and then a children’s hospital. I loved what I did but was always frustrated by aspects of the system such as the limited amount of time I had to work with each patient, the chaos of the communal treatment gyms, and the inability to niche down in the area that I truly excelled in. I started my practice, Mom & Me PT, to address all of those frustrations. Within my practice, I see patients for as long as I need to, we work in the comfort and privacy of their own homes, and I narrowed my focus to specialize in babies and toddlers! Over time, my passion for helping moms grew as well and I sought out additional training in pelvic floor physical therapy. Now I also get to help women recover and thrive after giving birth. Not really has been a smooth ride, but it is what it’s supposed to be. On my personal journey, the main challenge has been finding a balance between imaginative, creative, and practical aspects together, as well as learning to make peace with the stress that life has to offer from time to time in different situations. In creative work, none of the quality ideas will come out when we’re stressed and I do enjoy spending time with quality ideas rather than otherwise, so it’s important to train myself to be calm and resilient with it.
