Today we’d like to introduce you to Theresa Ward.
Hi Theresa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My name is Theresa Ward. I am from Kansas City, MO 64130. I am a 1st time Author of the Female Genre. I wrote a Fiction Thriller/Mystery Novel: Titled “She Wore The Name” 5 Star reviews!
The book is about how you wear your name, good or bad, it will affect those around you. The main character’s name is Sarai Chameleon. She is from Montgomery Black Wealth, and moves to Birmingham to escape her past of rape, lies, abuse, voodoo, and a possible murder!
I wrote this book during cancer and 31 rounds of radiation. It was very hard, but I would crawl my way to my computer to complete my assignments from the publishing company. I lost 4 siblings back-to-back and was left to take care of my father who is 96 years of age.
My passion is words and giving, so I mixed the two. I give to various community outreach causes: scholarships for our youth to go to college, abused women from domestic violence can receive gift cards for beauty. Gift cards for those in Kansas City from Ukraine, who need a meal as well as school funding for Tanzania Africa.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. It has not been easy. Cancer was not expected and certainly not 31 rounds of radiation. The side effects were debilitating at times. I dealt with depression and feared that cancer would return.
If I could take care of myself and my 96-year-old father on my own, would I be able to continue working? I pressed through and made it!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a writer, and I am proud of it. It took a long time to get used to me walking in these stilettos for sure! LOL! I specialize in fiction writing for women-it crosses various groups: Christian, chic books, and urban reading. I have an interest in the LBGQT community as part of my reading circle.
I love their artistic style, language, and apperception of the arts. That community embraces love and I respect that. I am known for colorful wording and suspenseful endings! That gotcha moment! I purposely write my books based on the ability to turn them into short television programs or a movie.
I am the ultimate make you turn the page author! I would love to work with Tyler Perry and other black film producers as part of my career. I would also like to go back to Tuskegee University, where I obtained my B.S degree, to teach classes on writing and fashion as well. Fashion is what I majored in.
I actually introduce a clothing line in the sequel to my first book! I am known for what I think everyone should be known for: Fairness, integrity, your word is bond, and giving. You can purchase my book online at Barnes & Noble as well as on Amazon:
What makes you happy?
Children-because they are full of untapped ideas that are fresh and relevant.
The elderly-historic, wisdom, strength, and an encouragement-every person needs that, it promotes life! People watching-a canvas of lines, shapes, and colors in which you can create stories, clothing, and oh yeah, I love to paint and to draw, it’s the ultimate orgasm of expression!
In addition to fine wines, coffee, and dark chocolate and that include dark men! Lol. A genre of various music and the sounds and smells from the inner cities of the United States. A “Jungle of Potential” just waiting to be captured.
