Rising Stars: Meet Tami Barnett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tami Barnett.

So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
When I started Lash Bar Kollection it was during the pandemic, July 13, 2020. I had recently started a new position at my Full- Time job and was unsure of how it would turn out. I have always desired to become an entrepreneur. I knew that it would be risking everything for a dream, but I was willing to make my dream become a reality, helping women to enhance their beauty and feel confident in their skin.

When I first launched, I started to sell an array of mink & faux mink lashes available in natural and exotic styles (from the most basic to the most dramatic) in addition to lash accessories. I wanted to make sure that women from all walks of life would be able to get a pair of lashes even if it was the shortest. After a year of being in business, I added high-end fashion items like gold tarnish-free jewelry.

At Lash Bar Kollection we desire to inspire every woman to embrace their fierce femininity and elevate their looks with our stunning selections.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Starting the business has not been smooth. Often, I have heard “Sis, just start the business” but when I started the business, I had minimal knowledge on where to start. However, all information I had learned from doing research I believed it was enough to open the business.

Some of the challenges I had along the way were being able to have a social media presence since I have never been the type of person that have been into social media until I opened the business, learning /understanding how marketing works because it’s one of the biggest pieces to running a business, learning about how to properly set up the backend of my website to assist me to gain organic clientele to rank on google all while being able to adjust to working a full-time job, being a full-time mother to (2) boys and running a business.

The journey has its moments, and it can be challenging on some days more than others, but I wouldn’t change anything about my growing process.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a full-time Flight Operations Coordinator at a Private Aviation company. I specialize in audits, analyzing and categorizing flight crew expense reports to ensure compliance with expense report policies, assisting in the execution of payment disbursements in cash clearing/ invoicing, creating, maintaining, executing policy training for new hires, and preparing, editing correspondence, communications, presentations, and other document’s associated with the passport/ visa program.

I am most proud of all my accomplishments being an entrepreneur these past 2 years. They say that a lot of business owners end up letting go of their business within the 1st 1-5 years of being in business because they either gave up too soon or because they lacked knowledge of being able to learn the full spectrum of running a business and all what it entails.

No matter what level I am at in my business, I stay consistent, showing up and showing out for myself no matter if I got 0 or 1, or 100 sales, stay focused on each of my goals, improving my brand every year, and giving myself the credit because I can’t imagine not showing up for myself every day yet expecting others to show up and support me.

What sets me apart from others is that I am very passionate about my business, I go above and beyond, I aim for perfection ensuring that all my customers are treated with top-tier customer service, and I ensure that if there is ever an issue with a customer that they are fully satisfied. Being committed to my brand, instilling trust, and building those lasting relationships with people I have met, my current and future customers are very important to me.
