Today we’d like to introduce you to Latavia Nottage Bienamie.
Latavia Nottage Bienaime is a self-taught makeup artist based in Miami, Florida. Her love for makeup began in high school and in 2012, her passion blossomed into a career. She describes makeup artistry as a photographic painting on canvas and spent five years on refining her skills and broadening her makeup experiences through MAC Cosmetics and Sephora. She graduated from Miami Dade College in Funeral Services and dabbled into working with the deceased in pursuit of her career. This has been her new found love and mission to provide an exceptional service with care, comfort and cosmetic treatment to her clients. Themortuaryspa was launched into a small business, when a close associate of hers made a request saying; “I will want you to give me a mortuary makeover when I die”. Two years later, this close associate passed on in 2017 and Latavia was honored to grant her request. From then on Latavia made a vow that this is the most comforting and peaceful way to say goodbye to a friend.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Along the way there were several hurdles including transportation but the most difficult of them all was to promote the business. In those seasons where I felt hopeless, the best thing I could do was turn away from my challenges and turn towards God.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. It is with memory we find that safe place to secure our precious moments. As an expert in Beauty and Funeral Services, I understand one’s final appearance is paramount. In fact, the last viewing of that loved one can play an integral role in the healing process and bring final closure. I am best known for providing a service that is passionate, respectful, dignified and comforting. One of the things that I am most proud of is having been able to honor the wishes of a close associate who passed in 2017, by applying her cosmetics.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory was watching my father Granville Nottage Jr supervising his subordinates, this inspired me to be a good leader.
