Rising Stars: Meet Kidd Adamz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kidd Adamz.

Kidd, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I officially started my rap career in 2009 while still in high school. At the time, I was affiliated with a local independent record label that went by 6-Deep Entertainment out in North Miami Beach. I released a series of singles and mixtapes under their label before I eventually began my own label called R.O.L.O Gang Records with my own friends. In 2012-13 I met and began working with another local independent record label that went by Fweago Productions out in North Miami and began releasing music with them. To this day, I’m still affiliated with them, they’re like family. A lot of where I am today is due to them, largely because one of the owners, Phanor Desir, or P for short.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not, but there was a lot of room for growth and experience, which is definitely necessary. One experience I can recall is when I got scammed out of a tour from a fake company. At the time, I was pretty young and very gullible, I was very computer-savvy but not entirely familiar with how online scamming worked. The fake company was able to get me to believe they had a tour set up and were looking for artists to book for the tour. The pricing for every stop on the tour came out to about $2,500 for an artist to sign up. I told my management about it and they were able to put the money together for this fraud tour. Months later, around the start of the tour many of the artists began posting how they were scammed out of their money. That experience of all of them was definitely the most humiliating but it taught me about how important verifying is when handling business. That growth stuck with me and I’ve been really solid on how I handle business since then. Other experiences could all fall under the umbrella of bad business relationships as far as music management in my past. I tried working with at least three different artist managers within the last four years and none of those business relationships worked out largely because of chemistry in my book.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a recording artist, record producer, and songwriter first and foremost, but I also would call myself a musician and creative director. I created my own record label, R.O.L.O Gang Records. I would say I specialize in creating music in every essence of the meaning. I don’t play any instruments professionally but I think the amateurish approach fits my scheme when I’m creating music. I make production from my laptop but that’s never limited my creativity in any circumstance. I would say I’m known for my music alone, I’ve definitely been one of the more consistent names you’ve probably seen since the younger days of Miami’s rap music. I’m most proud of my lengthy catalog, it shows longevity and it always reminds me why I need to keep going and why I should never stop. Also, I’m really proud of a few of the accomplishments I’ve had within the last few years. The most notable for me would have to be “Caps Flyun”, a song I’m featured on by Gunplay off of his studio album “ACTIVE”, and being featured on The Fader’s “5 under-the-radar rappers from South Florida about”.

In 2015, during SXSW, my team managed a way to find me an opportunity on Sway In The Morning’s SXSW Takover for a quick freestyle, I was 18 at the time. It definitely was an eye-opening moment for me, learned a lot from that process. Met some dope artists and it built my confidence up a little more. Definitely was another proud moment & experience. I think what sets me apart from other music artists is the creative drive I have and the ability to make dope, if not timeless, records. The way I blend melodies and lyrics is pretty cool I think, once you really dive in to my music catalog you’ll understand what I’m trying to say. Not toot my own horn or anything but there’s a lot of music I have that hasn’t been released or even heard that I know for a fact will change a lot of people’s perception of my music-making ability.
