Today we’d like to introduce you to Dai Diaz.
Hi Dai, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi, I’m Dai, a Cuban making her dream come true in Miami. Since I was little I was passionate about the whole world of beauty, always looking for fashion, style or content magazines with which I could document myself since in Cuba without internet it was very difficult. I graduated from Computer Science but it was not what I was really passionate about at all. So I began the search where I could learn more about the World of Beauty and thus managed to start in the most important Beauty School in Havana, Cuba called Bella Caribe Internacional where I graduated in Cosmetology. During three years I learned many important things about the industry and I achieved my dream of being able to work in the world of beauty that I am so passionate about. I was able to work as a Makeup Artist in different international Events, Shows, Television Networks, Music Videos of the most important artists of the moment working on their image, weddings, etc. In 2017, I arrived in this country with my husband and my young son but a talented pianist, so everything was new for us. I realized that everything I had learned in Cuba about my career, even though my work was recognized, was far from how powerful the Aesthetic World is in the United States of America. So I decided to start studying again and improve myself with Fashion trends and the most current internationally. I studied Aesthetics at a Florida School in order to obtain my License in Aesthetics and to dedicate myself to this beautiful World that I am so passionate about. At this stage I began to work on my Instagram account more deeply, as I told you in Cuba at that time that did not exist so this was new for me, in fact I had written then a Book on how to make up women of advanced age which I have decided to reissue with current knowledge at the request of the Tierra Santa Company. But nothing that with time and dedication is not learned. I have participated and collaborated in different courses with specialists from different countries to know and implement the latest trends that exist today worldwide. I do not consider myself an expert and my respects for many who have been in the beauty and fashion industry for longer, but if I put all the love and dedication that I can to achieve my goals and make a worthy path based on sacrifice and improvement. . Today I collaborate constantly and I have worked as a makeup artist in Events, I teach self-makeup and skin care classes for different ages, I am an eyebrow specialist and as a creator of beauty content for instagram I have collaborated and I am PR of Brands such as Dermae, Dermalogica, Pixibeauty, Boxycharm, Catrice, GoodMolecules among others very recognized. In my contents I always try to teach something that can be useful to that person who follows me. I really like to give reviews, so that people have references and know if it will work or not when choosing a product for their skin. I am very grateful because in this country I have been able to improve myself and achieve things that I never thought of and I thank my husband and son who always support me and motivate me to move forward. For me the family is the reflection of the deepest beauty of this world.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I believe that it has not been easy, in fact it has been very hard, first because I am Cuban, since in my country access to things as elementary as the internet is a serious and very necessary problem, then the immigrant life that makes us strong and surpass ourselves every minute of this life in a language that is not ours, the distance from loved ones and the ignorance of the global development of industries such as beauty that make you surpass yourself above normal to keep up with current trends
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have a license in Aesthetics, which is why I am passionate about the world of skin care. I also teach makeup and skin treatment classes, I work as a professional makeup artist at events and I really like creating beauty and skin care content as well as teaching how important it is to know the cosmetic product that we use every day to take care of our face. What distinguishes me above all is creativity and the way I propose to my followers the true formula to use to see ourselves radiant according to the occasion. As I have heard since I was a child, fashion has to serve to favor us and not to disguise us.
How do you define success?
I think that success can be defined as the result of work, knowledge and perseverance. I think we should prepare ourselves for what is coming because if the sacrifice is great, the blessing will be immense. I always tell my followers that one day we will say that it was not easy but we succeeded … that is the key to success, achieving it and together.
