Rising Stars: Meet Chris Renois

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Renois.

Hi Chris, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My love for comedy started when I was a young kid. I always prided myself in being the funniest in all my classes, but I didn’t really think about being a comedian until I turned 14. After performing in my high school’s talent show, stand-up comedy is all I’ve obsessed about ever since. I moved to Orlando when I turned 19 and began doing the open-mic circuit there, and it set the foundation for who I am as a performer. The pandemic sort of forced me to move back to South Florida in 2020, and it hurt to leave my Orlando comedy family, but the Miami comedy scene welcomed me with open arms.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s definitely been tough, but if the mountain was smooth, you couldn’t climb it. Struggles include but are not limited to: Imposter Syndrome, struggle to maintain work to life balance, being a broke college student, convincing your parents you’ve made the right decision and many more.

I know mishaps and obstacles are part of the journey, and to be honest, I embrace it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a stand-up comedian, actor, and writer. I also make online content such as sketches and music parodies. I’m most proud of evolving on and off stage. I’ve seen improvements in my live performance and always love having my videos connect with a larger audience online. I think what sets me apart from others is my desire to bring the genre forward. Constantly looking for innovative ways to tell a story. Having a love for the culture and wanting to make an imprint on it.

What matters most to you?
Showing my parents that all their hard work didn’t go to waste. They were both born in Haiti and made tremendous sacrifices to give me the life I have. I thank God for them. I want to show them I appreciated it.
