Today we’d like to introduce you to Big Solo.
Hi Big, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
What’s up everyone, since you’re here you can just call me Solo. I’m originally from Shelby, NC. Charlotte area if you aren’t familiar. I’m a Carolina boy, Florida man, and a Florolina Artist! Peace keeps me centered, art helps me release. An inspiration is what I aspire to become for anyone that has time to buy into the vision.
Being surrounded by music all my life, it always being there to soothe, smooth over, and put people in a better mood when they have problems is why music and mental health awareness are the M’s that I know are going to get me M’s. I started just mimicking my uncles when they’d play different instruments as on my mother’s side of my tree, I have always had such a musical family. Those instruments were the drums, bass, as well as saxophone. I ended up picking up my own instruments by way of the drums, bongos, guitar when I was really young but never picked it back up. In middle school my mom would come to my trombone recitals. Ever since I could remember writing and having my own private sing-a-longs have been tradition for me. I also try to keep range unlimited and diversity in the forefront when focusing on different things; for instance, I was heavy into sports during these formative years, a lot of modeling, building my web, and learning anything that I could get my hands on which turned me into much of a historian. Both of my parents gave me that gene that naturally wants to help others by way of social work and involvement in schools impacting students’ lives. I was introduced to therapy and counseling from my dad’s side of the family after already being captivated by psychology and the connection of everything we can think of, to our cognitive function. All of these things are my passion along with a few others, I intend to make an impact and continue to actualize my visions into reality so that when I daydream, I’m also making a living. That’s the short-term goal from my long-term growth.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Seeing everything big picture helps me have forethought and foresight when it comes to not letting things trip me up. This ideal gives me perspective so that anything I am bogged down about is diminished. Most things that have been challenges for me are just things that need to get done and are overwhelming to me. Being goal-oriented moves me to get things done to free up space for creativity. Free your mind and everything will follow is a saying that reigns true every day. With most things in the review to this point, it’s been a smooth road here with a few pebbles and nails that had me pull over to assess life every once in a while. Rest in peace to my loved ones, as I used to see death as obstacles, but those people became my guardian angels. Life births new blessings when you learn how let go of old stressing.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Creativity is the entity that motivates me. I am a recording artist, songwriter, model, photographer, record label executive, business owner, public relations specialist, content creator, dependency case manager, registered behavior technician, stylist, foodie, health enthusiast, cannabis connoisseur, interior designer, and eternal student. Authenticity is important to me as I take pride in being the best me possible. At Florolina Entertainment Incorporated we foster individualistic approaches to art as well as life while still putting our heads together to make the dream work. I am no pretender and that’s what sets me apart from the rest of the world from an entertainment standpoint especially.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risking taking is a necessary evil. If you want to see immediate change you have to do things you’ve never tried. For better results sometimes it just takes consistency, other times it takes thinking outside of the box and not being scared to go through with going out on a limb. Blind faith is important when it comes to making something, a good thing, out of thin air. I have taken major risks like believing myself and doubling down on it. Large lumpsomes of my earnings and effort has gone into my growing black business so that I can continue growing my black business.
