Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Rodriguez.
Hi Amanda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started The AVA Network during a time in which pretty much the whole world had no idea what to do next. It had been a little over a year of applying to jobs, going to interviews and not hearing another word from them. I brainstormed a million and one ideas, until it finally hit me, ‘why not be a virtual assistant?’.
I’d been an administrative assistant for 5+ years, specializing in Real Estate and figured, why not give it a try, what’s the worst that can happen. I created an Instagram account, launched a promotion and within a week landed my first two clients. I’ve always loved the idea of working for myself and this little idea of mine has been one of my best decisions yet!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not. As with any other business, clients don’t just fall on your lap. You really have to network, send a million emails, and put yourself out there in order to bring in clientele. I’m a shy person as it is, so I’ve been forced to come out of my shell and really go out there and get what I want. It’s challenging, but definitely worth it!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a virtual administrative assistant. Anything your in-office administrative assistant does, I can do from my home office! I’ve always worked in the real estate industry, however, I have clients in all different types of business. I try not to limit myself and explore helping others in careers I’m not 100% familiar with, so that I can help them grow while also growing my career as a virtual assistant and possibly bringing in more clients with different types of backgrounds! I’m proud of how far I’ve come, how I put my mind towards a goal and reached it in such little time. I’ve done my research on virtual assistants, and I have noticed most do their jobs with a crazy amount of limits and that’s one thing, that I think, sets me apart. I’m open, honest and will always have your best interest!
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was quiet until you really got to know me. I still am that way actually, haha! I was a dancer, I’d dance 5 days sometimes 6 days out of the week, that’s where all my free time went and I loved it! From ballet to hip hop and contemporary, I did it all.
