Today we’d like to introduce you to Yolanda Brown.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started the company simply wanting to be a real estate investor to get out of the rat race, but it transformed into wanting to help with the revitalization of my hometown, Meridian, MS. I’m currently rehabbing the first home my mother bought and paid for. She lived in the house for over 20 years.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve had one of the biggest setbacks you can have as a real estate investor and that’s the contractor walking out and leaving the property in shambles. Starting over when you’ve put a lot of time and money is definitely a challenge.
She Ready – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
She Ready specializes in long distance real estate, specifically rehabbing homes in Meridian, MS. I’m most proud that I haven’t given up when I had setbacks and negative comments from people. I don’t want to just rehab a property for the income. I want people to be comfortable and proud of the homes I provide for them. After the hurricanes of 2005, the city went downhill for various reasons. Now when I go home, I see the city as an opportunity to be reborn and I need to be part of making the city become more appealing to visitors and travelers passing through.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Starting has been my proudest moment. Believing in myself that I can do this and having the support of family and friends has been great.
