Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Melanie Engel.
Valerie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was working in Fashion for Chanel in Paris.
Came to Miami on vacation with my mom and decided to change life.
After my vacation, I came back to Miami about 2 months later and opened my boutique.
Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all!
First of all, I am French and had to obtain my Visa which was a long and stressful process.
Opening a business in a country which is not yours or language is far from easy.
I also did not know anyone or any helpful contracts to start my business.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Roses and Dreams story. Tell us more about the business.
We are a French boutique, most of our brands are French and exclusive to Miami Beach.
We try to make sure shopping in our boutique is a pleasure: nice and helpful to all clients, delivery services, styling, rose scent when entering, nice and detailed packaging etc…
In addition, we keep a friendly relationship with our clients and make sure to send them newsletters, texts, emails. Organize events, for example, our last one was for Father’s Day when each client received a discount and a rose.
When working for Chanel I was taught that luxury is the art of each details.
In addition, we do not order big quantities/item which makes it more ”exclusive”.
We know our clientele and make sure to call them when getting new arrivals. (personalize by style)
We also sell all sorts of little gifts. Difference price points in order to please everyone.
Finally, we now have a baby/kid’s section, also French designers.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Opening new locations. (one very soon!)
We have our shoe line and will develop it more and more.
