Today we’d like to introduce you to Vicky Salas.
Vicky, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Ever since I was young, I’ve had a passion for artistry and the world of beauty. Around four years ago, I began taking it more seriously. Being 16 years old, I started to teach myself different makeup artistry techniques and really fell in love with the art. I had a natural knack for it too, especially when it came to blending colors. Over the years, I’ve continued to practice, whether it was glam looks or things more of the gory side. Teaming it up with a passion for social media, I am more than happy to share my work with the world!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been an easy journey at all and it’s not near the end by any means. Being creative is difficult, it is time-consuming and takes dedication. There are so many other things that consume my time when I would love to make this a priority. My advice for other women with a dream is just to follow it and don’t let anyone bring you down as corny as it sounds. If you want it, go for it and make it yours.

I work on makeup looks on myself, hoping to inspire others or just be an image that makes people happy. My following is small but I hope to make a difference for the ones that do look at my work. I’m proud of myself for investing in something that genuinely makes me happy. Makeup is an art that often goes unnoticed.
Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
Simply looking through Instagram. The platform is tailored to your interested and since I involved myself at looking at art and other great individuals in the makeup community, my account feeds me with inspiration and people to look up to.
