Today we’d like to introduce you to Ary Rex.
Ary, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Started my journey with make up but ended up a Paul Mitchell graduate. Been working behind the chair for about 8 years now, but decided to go out on my own to a suite almost 2 years ago and now, I’m onto building a brand for myself.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being a hairstylist is definitely a journey. Long days of shoving down protein shake without breaks, no weekends or holidays off, having to please a multitude of people. Passion is a key element if you want to survive in this world. There are so many people in the industry who are willing to help, willing to support one another. Find them, create with them, grow with them. You can never stop learning.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Rex & Bex Hair Studio – what should we know?
I am a master colorist and hair cutter. The balayage/ombré trend has got to be my favorite out there, along with fantasy colors, I focus on the 2 a lot behind the chair. I don’t have clients, I strive to make long-lasting relationships in a safe environment. Empowering people every day of my career, that’s what I’m about.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Believe in yourself and everything else will fall into place! Fear is the one thing that holds us back the most, so put it aside!
