Alicia-Ann, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Coming from a Caribbean household and growing up among various cultural backgrounds, I have seen firsthand that no matter who you are, the chaos of life is inevitable. It is even more chaotic when there are others who are dependent upon you while you’re still trying to maneuver through life with minimal hiccups. As the owner of Therapeutically Beautiful LLC and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I am all about “finding beauty amidst the chaos. My passion was formed based on my chaotic family life as well as seeing and hearing the chaos of other families around me. I was able to find the beauty within my chaos and I hope to do the same for other families.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As a therapreneur (therapist-entrepreneur), branching away from agency work and going into the private practice world definitely presents its challenges. On one hand, I have to be mentally present for those who I provide services to and provide them the best me to ensure I maintain their trust as we explore their vulnerabilities. On the other hand, I am facing my own vulnerabilities with going into business alone and having to really introduce myself to the world and illustrate how I am an expert in this world.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Therapeutically Beautiful LLC – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Therapeutically Beautiful LLC currently focuses on families from various cultural backgrounds with children between the ages of 0 to 5. I specialize in child-parent psychotherapy and infant mental health. The aim is prevention, preventing further disruption in the child-parent relationship. A strong, safe and healthy relationship is what every child needs to grow into mentally healthy adults.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Well, the top priority is to fully become self-employed and place all of my focus into Therapeutically Beautiful LLC. I am looking forward to speaking at conferences as well as host quarterly mental health workshops. I am hoping to make Therapeutically Beautiful LLC a household name within the field of mental health. I want to spread awareness further notice regarding the mental well-being of the 0 to 5 age population and then branch into doing more with the older age population and their caregivers.
