Taylor, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Xileven became a reality one whole year ago. I’ve always imagined having my own fashion brand but I was always so adamant and scared to start because of how many other online fashion boutiques were out there, I felt like a little fish in a big pond. I finally took that leap of faith and started my boutique with just a few pieces and small accessories, selling to friends and family to church members. I started small and began to expand my brand and focus more into exclusive custom designs and further away from wholesale retail pieces, and that’s when I found my niche. I went from a simple order or a two in a week to now selling out of pieces weekly, it’s truly a blessing that I owe strictly to GOD.
Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing worth it is ever easy. There were days I wanted to give up and quit. There were times where I was spending three times the money into my business but not seeing profit, just losing more and more money and it became frustrating and directionless but that was my error. I was thinking and looking at short terms reactions and not long term solutions. I had to remove that negative thinking out of my mind and hustle! I stayed consistent and stays the course and turned pain into profit.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Xileven Apparel story. Tell us more about the business.
Xileven Apparel is a brand uniquely made for the woman who breathes confidence, the woman who struts ego, the woman who dresses fearlessly no matter her shape, size, or color. Not only do I create exclusive custom apparel, I also specialize in styling options for my fashionistas on a budget. My Style Me Box has become my biggest best seller so far where women and men can receive four complete outfits all handpicked by me for only $60. When creating this brand, I envisioned a Brand that needed NO explanation when seen. A Brand that speaks for itself through its designs and quality of clothing. I strive to push my brand apart from others by not only just creating exclusive timeless fashion but meaningful and well-crafted relationships with my clients.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I believe in speaking things into existence. My brand will be celebrity known. That’s one of my goals. To have my own warehouse and manufacturing company with hundreds of exclusive designs being worn by celebrity boss women and my everyday boss women. In little over eight months, I’ve had my store triple in sales each month with new clientele ever since I’ve started creating my own clothing. I have Big plans for Xileven that I know will manifest.
