Meet Tamika McClendon of Bossin Up Enterprise

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamika McClendon.

Hi Tamika, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Thanks for taking the time to interview me and wanting to learn more about Bossin Up Enterprise. First and foremost I’m a Mother, Wife, and a self made business owner. Self made meaning everything was built from the ground up by myself (long days and nights lol.) I knew I always was a Boss, but I finally put the pieces together back in 2018 when I decided to become a business consultant. Let’s take it back to how everything unfolded for me though. I started my first business as the first tutu and party boutique owner in Tampa FL in 2010. After being in business and learning through trial and error at the age of 28, I understood that the business side of things should be handled more seriously as it affects the funding and organization of the business. After having to close the business in 2012 as a storefront, I started to learn more about structuring the entity properly, business credit, and the power of business plans for a better strategy. I then started to help other business owners understand the importance of their business affairs and fully took the reins of being a Business Consultant. I have a BA in Psychology from the University of South Florida and I also took a life coaching course which taught me more on how to refrain from being biased or judgmental towards a person’s life situation while I’m coaching. After the course, I started my business coaching services for clients that needed goal strategies while helping them cope with their personal issues. I currently implemented the SBA funding assistance for those that don’t understand how the rules and regulations apply to their business. Helping them understand the type of funding that is put in place for the Pandemic Relief was my main focus once I studied the Cares Act that was put into law in 2020. My biggest accomplishment currently is that I helped assist over 100 business owners with their SBA funding legitimately and saved many owners from shutting their businesses completely.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running any business will have its struggles and for me, it was being able to finally outsource or hire more staff to help build my empire. I always did my business on my own but now I have gained many reoccurring clients and had to start expanding. Some of the struggles included finding the right staff to hire that I trusted and allowing myself to let someone else have the wheel of most things that I would. When you are the Boss, it’s really hard to let yourself have that kind of trust, so that was a struggle. It has been a smooth road with attracting more clients because of the Pandemic and how more people are willing to invest in a business of some sort for an extra stream of income. My main service is helping startups and I’m able to target my audience very well.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business is known for helping business owners find business funding. My main services are consulting and coaching. I am a business hub that offers everything small business-wise such as business plans, business credit building, virtual call center courses and much more. My main target audience is the minority and low-income area small business owner to find more capital ventures, grants that apply to them, and coaching them to being a better business owner overall. What sets me apart from any other business coach is that I provide majority of the services the owner needs which keeps them as a reoccurring client. I’m currently most proud of the recognition my business has gotten through grant prizes such as the Comcast Rise Media grant that allowed me to air my very first commercial shoot on networks such as FOX, ESPN, and other major networks.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
None in particular but I do randomly watch motivational speaking’s by anyone that is inspiring on YouTube that I may come across.
