Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Ulloa.
Stephanie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always been that person who friends ask for help whenever the need to plan a party. After feeling the post-wedding blues from planning my own wedding, I decided to tip my toes into planning professionally.
While working full-time as a teacher, I took on the bulk of planning my sister-in-law’s quinceanera, and slowly built from there. I eventually went on to work for an event rental firm to get to know the business hands-on. Working there, I met some of Miami’s most well-known planners. I was able to learn their design processes, see how they interact with clients, and how they work on-site. After a few years in the trenches, I decided to go on my own and focus all my efforts into my own company.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been anything but! I have made plenty of mistakes along the way and have found myself in several moments where I thought about giving up. But each time I’ve had those thoughts, I get an almost immediate sign from the universe to keep going. I’m so grateful for each of those moments and each mistake, as they all taught me valuable lessons.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When you hire Events by U, you work with me exclusively. You don’t get a sales pitch from me and then passed off to an assistant the rest of the way. While the members of my team are invaluable and essentials to my success, I take the lead on each and every event.
I work hard for each event to be unique. Even if clients send me photos of my own work and want the exact same look, I always strive personalization and specific details.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Being able to express myself creatively through what I do professional is literally a dream job. Don’t get me wrong, the hours are grueling, the stress levels can be off the charts, but when it’s all put together and your bride walks into her reception seeing her dream day come to life, it’s worth it.
