Meet Stephanie Flores

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Flores.

Stephanie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always had a passion for the beauty industry but growing up it wasn’t as how it is now. I’ve always been fascinated with makeup. I was in college studying and one day my cousin told me to follow my dream which was to be a makeup artist. But my parents weren’t too convinced it was the right career path. My cousin passed away in 2011 and that is when I dropped out of school and fell into a depression. It wasn’t until I stumbled upon a picture of my cousin and myself the day I did her makeup, that I told myself “ snap out of it! Follow your dream!” The very next day I went to Beauty Schools of America.

I graduated in 2012 and started working at a salon. I saw all these moms struggling with small children that get bored waiting for their mom. And I thought to myself, why don’t I just freelance and make the client feel comfortable, be home and not have to worry if the kids runoff. And that is when Stephanie Marie Beauty was born in 2013. My parents could not be more proud of all my accomplishments. I thank them every day for supporting me no matter what.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For me, 2018 was a very tough year. I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. I wasn’t able to work during treatment because I would feel weak. But now I am cured and ready to get back to my beauties!

Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
I am a makeup artist and I also specialize in blow dries and updos. I do everything from bridal makeup to special fx makeup. I have been featured on Univision as well as Ink Magazine. What sets me apart from others is that to me all my clients are like family. I will treat all my ladies as if I’ve known them forever!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
For me, the proudest moment of my career is having my work appear on television on Univision. I am still in awe of the amazing experience and can’t wait to do it again.
