Thanks for sharing your story with us Stephanie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It was my birthday, and my mom and I were out to celebrate in style. We went to a fancy afternoon tea, complete with finger sandwiches, scones (with clotted cream! and homemade jam!!), and a bunch of adorably delicious desserts.
“This is the best feeling!” I said. “I’m so comfortable, and relaxed, and happy. It feels so special. I wish I could share this feeling with other people!!”
So I decided to start my own tea company, so I could help create those wonderful feelings for other people, too.
Currently, we sell high-quality tea and herbal blends at farmers markets and special events throughout South Florida. We regularly update our menu, but we always choose organic or fair trade ingredients whenever possible.
One day we plan to have our own tea cafe, which will be the center of a lovely, inspiring community, partnering with yoga studios, chiropractors, spas, and other health- and wellness-minded businesses and individuals.
Has it been a smooth road?
Some of the most un-fun moments have occurred while standing in a tent in the middle of a farmers market. Here in South Florida, the weather is not always cooperative. Rain sometimes blows sideways into the tent, huge gusts of winds threaten to carry the tent away, having to pack up early–and in a hurry–because of tornado warnings.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the CommuniTea Center story. Tell us more about the business.
CommuniTea Center indulges tea lovers with enchanting, high-quality tea and herbal blends. Whenever possible, our loose leaf teas are made with organic ingredients and–always!–with love. Plus, we take a holistic approach, believing tea has benefits on physical, mental, and emotional levels. For us, it’s all about empowering, inspiring, and connecting.
I’m proud of how far we’ve come and how much we’ve learned in the process. We just celebrated our 3 year anniversary! As a (primarily) one-woman operation, it’s been quite the journey.
What sets us apart from others is a) the love that goes into every tea, but b) our company integrity. We never use anything artificial. Everything, from teas to herbs to teaware, is high quality. We never claim that our teas have magical powers to cure diseases or make you skinny. For CommuniTea Center, it’s imperative that we create products that you can enjoy drinking: all-natural, healthy teas and tisanes that are good AND good for you!!.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We see a greater shift towards transparency, of what the teas/ingredients are, what effect they have, and where they came from. We see customers continuing to seek out “healthy” products.

- We sell tea in packages by weight (1-2 oz) for $7-$14 (depending on the tea)
