Hi Sophia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello! I began my business, SG Media LLC, in 2020 during the pandemic. As businesses began to grow online due to Covid restrictions, I wanted to share my knowledge of social media marketing and branding in order to help small business owners. I initially launched as a small-scale branding freelancer on Fiverr, but almost a year later I have grown my business to include branding, social media marketing and management, as well as educational resources for small businesses. I am a current MBA candidate at the University of Miami and pride myself on providing the tools to help my clients use social media to take their businesses to the next level. Behind the scenes at SG Media, I am constantly learning more about business strategy and marketing through my professional and educational experiences. I am personally invested in my clients’ individual goals and aim to help facilitate the holistic success of their businesses.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, but every challenge has taught me so much! As a full time student with a full time job in marketing, maintaining a work life balance was very difficult at the beginning of my journey with SG Media. This struggle has helped me better understand the pain point many of my clients face when they try to use social media as a marketing tool- they do not have the time to effectively use social media. Over time, I have created a time management routine that helps me maintain a very organized schedule and set clear expectations with clients at the beginning of our contract. Although challenges can be difficult, I welcome them because they help me refine my approach and better serve my clients each day.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
SG Media LLC is a branding and social media marketing and management company. We specialize in Instagram marketing and have recently expanded our services to include a SG Media Instagram 101 Guide. Our Instagram 101 Guide is intended for businesses who want to use Instagram for marketing purposes but do not understand how to effectively use the app or have an Instagram strategy in place. This course includes a 1-hour Instagram How-To session and access to SG Media consulting for 30 days. We also offer traditional Instagram management that can be customized to your business’ specific needs. SG Media differentiates itself from other social media management agencies because it prioritizes quality over quantity of work. We truly invest in each of our clients’ success and commit to excellent customer service and results. With people craving social interaction in a post pandemic world, we aim to put the social back in social media. I am proud to have a hands-on role with all my clients, help them foster connections with potential customers, and watch their businesses grow!
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I think life is all about risk taking and putting yourself out there. It was a major risk for me to start SG Media while in school and in a global pandemic. I questioned if it was the right timing and if I was ready to start my own business at 21. I took the leap of faith and with a lot of dedication, sleepless nights, self-teaching, and support from my loved ones, SG Media grew to where it is today. I am so grateful I took this risk and I wouldn’t take it back for the world. My biggest advice for my risk takers and those who are more risk averse: you are never too young or too old to start the life of your dreams, go for it.
