Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandy Jinks.
Brandy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I became an Esthetician in 2009. It didn’t take me long to realize that it was definitely my “thing”. Working in the Esthetic field allowed me to merge multiple concepts of interest. I am able to combine beauty and wellness. The foundation of my journey began in Holistic Esthetics. It is here where I developed my philosophy, protocols and approaches.
Holistic Esthetics combines a balance of the mind, body and spirit (soul), it’s all interconnected. Within a year of being an Esthetician, I launch my own Mobile spa named Beauty & Wellness. In 2010 I added a signature extension to the mobile spa that catered to little girls ages 6 to 10. BW Mobile spa parties were born. Those were defiantly some of the funniest times of my career. In 2017 I gave birth to my own Vegan product line also named Beauty & Wellness. This was important to me because as my philosophy developed, I become more conscience and ethical about product integrity. I am also a licensed Nail technician and Massage Therapist, which aspired me to start the journey of teaching in 2014.
As a natural giver and caretaker, I enjoy teaching and motivating my students. I have found true purpose in being able to offer career development services to aspiring entrepreneurs. I once saw a quote that read: ” Be to someone what you wish you had”, it stayed in my spirit. It was the birth of me launching my very own school. Skinformation Academy, an Esthetician based education center that provides training and mentorship for beauty professionals. These days I spend my time operating as Director and Lead Instructor of Skinformation Academy. I also still service my private clientele (Skincare with Mrs. B). Facials are my passion. I enjoy spreading skinformation awareness. I can literally say I get to do what I love everyday 🙂
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. Some of the struggles: Reaching my target audience, developing a clear vision of execution, obtaining funds for a start up cost, balancing a life as a business owner, mother and wife, developing the discipline to operate at my most effective self.
Skinformation Academy – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am most proud of my company/personal philosophy and how it translates to human connection. It is in fact, what I believe what sets me apart from others. “People forget what you say but they don’t forget the way you make them feel.” I am an instructor, mentor, trainer and Esthetician. I specialize in Corrective and Progressive skincare in the area of Holistic Esthiology & Medical Aesthetics.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I am one of those people that believe that success is where hard work and opportunity meet. Success is something that can must be measured by different rubrics depending on one’s perception. I consider my self successful when I am accomplishing my goals and operating as the optimum version of myself.
