Meet Sima Khondekar of Naturally Sima Salon in Boca Raton

Sima, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today?

I started my business about four years ago because I had a dream and vision that I wanted to help people start using natural and organic products. I have worked very hard at making that vision come true. I started with absolutely no clients and in four years 95% of my clientele return for treatments and color.

My clients are friends, not just customers. Creating healthy hair can be a journey of discovery in seeing what beauty can be created. Through that process I have become friends with all my clients. I spend time with my “friends” and I get to know what their personal vision is.

I am a master colorist and expert in natural hair repair treatments. My business is all about making others feel and look their best! I am serving beauty at the highest level.

It’s all about inspiring others by lifting up their spirit.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?

I work non-stop behind the scenes. I am not only the hairstylist –  I am the business owner and the PR person of Naturally Sima. I make time to attend many events and meet people who live in our community. It takes time and discipline to be where I am today. As a single mom of a teenage daughter, I have to be on top of my game to set a role model and example that everything is possible and you can succeed.

The main challenge I would say in starting a new business is sacrificing time away from home and my daughter.

Naturally Sima Salon – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?

My business is all about healthy hair. I am a master colorist. I specialize in Organic Hair Color and Natural Hair Repair Treatments. I was born and raised in India. I learned very young that using natural ingredients is always the way to go, whether that’s food or products that you use on your body.

I have created some of my own natural hair masks to repair damaged hair. I am known for my work —shiny healthy hair. Some of my clients call me the miracle worker stylist! 🙂

What is “success” or “successful” for you?

I consider myself successful because I am truly blessed to be in a position to use my passion to bring happiness to others. Whether that is in my personal or my professional life. I am blessed to be loved by everyone. My daughter and have a special relationship and our home is happy and healthy. I believe that what you put inside your body must be healthy too and I cook with natural ingredients.

Success means giving back: I am grateful to be able to help others. What you give to others will come back to you many times over. I give to my community with a program called NOOR which means “light.” I help underprivileged teens with a makeover for their college and first job interviews.

To me all of this measures into a happy and fulfilled life. That is my success story!
