Today we’d like to introduce you to Samuel Pierre.
Samuel, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always loved taking photos, this was way back since my younger Myspace/Facebook days and back in 2016, I decided to buy a camera for my own personal use, and at that time, I didn’t know a single thing about photography except that having a professional camera meant having a very good sharp photo that I could share on social media. So, that day came on black Friday, I saved up a good amount money working and with the help of my best friend, I got my hands on a Canon t5 which I still use to this day. Starting off, it was just me, my friend and my brother taking pictures of each other, then once I started learning more and more about photography and the different aspects of learning to edit working on my eye and rule of thirds. I transitioned to street photography and then from there, it was more portrait/lifestyle kind of vibes that I was most interested in. Now, here I am, taking photos of others creating art whether its a collaboration or paid shoot. This is something that I really enjoy doing that I don’t think will never stop.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some of the struggles I faced were downing my self and my work comparing it to others, happy to say, I don’t feel this way anymore. I also do not currently have a car or own my own studio which im currently working on, and availability is only open for weekends due to working an eight-hour job during the week. It’s never been smooth for me from the jump, but I do have the patience and work ethic.
Svisionz Photography – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in portrait/lifestyle photography and transitioning into studio work as well. I think what I’m known for is the type of photos that I take along with the editing and toning of the image. With the high saturation of photographers out there to set yourself apart from others, you have to be different on what you create and how you create, for me, it’s within the concept and editing of the photo. Each image holds its own story and mood, it can’t ever be recreated. What I’m most proud so far is the progress I’ve made from when I first started to where I am now from learning and investing in my craft.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me, success is achieving your personal goals, whether it’s a long-term or a short-term goal, whether it’s gaining a certain amount of followers or being financially stable and working a job you love and being happy with it. Right now, I’m in a pretty good position and its one step at a time. I do want to eventually open up my own studio and also, I want to be able to support my self and possibly a future family with photography.
