Today we’d like to introduce you to Pedro Brito.
Pedro, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We are a Venezuelan family who left our country two and a half years ago trying to get away from that mess and looking for a better future for our daughters. We came to this great country knowing that we would have to figure out something to produce the necessary money to pay for our expenses. All this story started because my wife and my daughters love Ice Cream, and we always go to Ice Cream Shops in order to try them. Once we went to a Nitrogen Ice Cream shop we felt in love with this kind of Ice Cream, My wife told me that it was the best Ice Cream she has ever had, immediately we felt in love with the process of doing it and I told my family that someday we will own a Nitrogen Ice Cream shop. That same day I started to work in this project, this happened one and a half year ago. At first, I tried to contact the owners of that Nitrogen Ice Cream shop to see if they wanted to sell me a franchise (as they offer it in their web page). However, they did not responded any of my emails or calls. Then I said “I am going to do it by myself.” As you can imagine, it wasn’t easy for a non-resident entrepreneur who did not know the legal and operational process related to this kind of business, nor anybody here but my brother (who doesn’t know anything related to this kind of business). I had to start studying everything related to this business, every time I asked somebody in regards of this theme no one helped me, I think they did it to avoid any competition. I spent about 6 months looking for the location and negotiating with my landlord and another six months building the Ice Cream shop from scratch. We opened on May 3rd. 2017. The opening day was a tremendous success, we were so happy and proud. I have to tell you that because our budget was so short, my wife and me planned ahead everything related with the Ice Cream shop trying to save the most we could.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it was not smooth at all! For us everything here was difficult because we are not residents of this country yet. We had to create an American Corporation in order to negotiate with everybody as investors. The process of negotiations with big Corporations to rent a place was not easy, but we made it! And I think the most difficult part was the building process of the Ice Cream shop because of the large amount of permits necessary to open a business like this. But it was worth it!
Please tell us about Nitrogelicious Nitrogen Ice Cream.
Nitrogelicious Nitrogen Ice Cream is a family business where we do our best to give an excellent service to our customers, we sell Nitrogen Ice creams as well as frozen yogurt and Coconut milk base Ice Cream especially made for vegans and lactose intolerant people. Our Ice Cream is delicious, you can check the reviews on Google, Yelp, Instagram etc. The customers love it, it is the creamiest Ice Cream ever and the secret is that how the Liquid Nitrogen Freezes it so fast it does not make so much ice crystals. We use the best quality base for Nitrogen Ice Cream, which is imported from Australia. It is 98% fat free, gluten free, and does not have any kind of preservatives. We do not have to storage the Ice Cream because we freeze it in front of the client at the moment they order it.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Well, I really would have to do the same, but with the difference of knowing what I had to do!
