Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Gal.
Nikki, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Since I was very young, I have always had a huge passion for art. My childhood dream was to become an artist. Whether it was painting on my Fisher Price easel or drawing on my bedroom floor, I knew creating was what I wanted to do. I can’t remember not wanting to paint or color. Along the way of my creative journey, I discovered my interest in graphic arts. Graphic design is so different from other arts. It really has an intricate vibe about it. And that’s why it interests me. The process of creating is key, and you must trust the process.
In early 2019, a friend of mine asked me,” Can you make me a portrait for my Instagram page?! You know, those really cool digital ones?” I thought to myself, I have little to no experience with drawing digital portraits of people, but I’ll give it a shot. Before I did it, I warned her that it probably wouldn’t be the best looking portrait in the world.” Oh stop, it will look great.” She replied.
During the process, I can’t tell you how many hours I stared at my phone screen — deleting, adding, and switching colors. It took so long, I wanted to make it the best I could. After a day or so went by, I sent her the finished portrait. She immediately became obsessed. “Wow! This is amazing!” I thought to myself. I can’t believe this. She must be trying to make me feel good because honestly, I didn’t know it was my best work. She shared the portrait on her Instagram page and tagged me.
I immediately started receiving direct messages. “Oh my gosh, how do I get one?” “How much do you charge?” “I need to get one for my daughter!” Thus, See Thru Nikki was born. The name “See Thru Nikki”, is a play on words. I didn’t want to choose a name that would forgettable. I wanted it to be creative and clever. You see your vision through my eyes, so, therefore, you’re seeing through me, Nikki.
Every day, I am so grateful I can create for others and share my artistic vision. It’s truly humbling to have others appreciate and share an interest in my art. This is a new journey for me, and you!
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s the best feeling in the world to have people admire, appreciate, and share the love for your art. In the beginning, I had no idea that this would ever become a business. I had such low expectations. I didn’t know what was going to happen. My clients gave me a huge amount of hope and confidence throughout this journey. I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for them. It is so rewarding at the end of the day to meet people that are so appreciative of your work, or that it’s touched them in some way.
Please tell us about your work.
See Thru Nikki specializes in custom design work, custom logo work, and custom animation work. It’s all about the client’s vision and what they want. There are no limitations. Anything is possible and anything can be created. Let YOUR imagination run wild!
Nikki is all about originality. It’s all about adding that personal touch. Every piece is different. No piece is ever the same. Whether it takes two hours or two days, knowing that you are creating someone’s unique vision is always an amazing feeling.
Being able to inspire so many people makes me really proud of what I do. I believe that everyone is uniquely creative in their own way. It’s all visionary, what YOUR eye interprets and expresses. And I’m here to make it come to life!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I plan on working with many more individuals that share a love for art and creativity. I look forward to inspiring more people not to be afraid to express themselves in a creative way. It is only the beginning, and my main goal is to spread positivity, creativity and self-expression along the way.
