Meet Miranda Wright of Nesting Knowledge at the Wright Place in Palm Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Wright.

Miranda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story has so many layers, so many pieces that I haven’t even connected yet. I like to start with my upbringing: I was raised by my paternal grandparents; my mother was incarcerated, and my father just wasn’t focused on parenting at the time. I was surrounded by love, but I felt so lost and disconnected. I deeply yearned for a meaningful relationship with my parents. This void in my heart caused me to search for love in all the wrong places. I had to deal with child molestation which I learned early on how to mask my feelings and numb my pain. This heavy burden lead to promiscuity and eventually, teenage pregnancy at the age of 15.

Fifteen years old and pregnant. I felt more lost and rejected than ever. Determined to take control of my life and situation, I tried to find positivity and validation. I became an active member of several youth groups sponsored by local organizations. To my surprise and disappointment, the same groups and organizations that had once shown me acceptance and love turned their backs on me.

After my pregnancy, I was forbidden from participating. I was told that I was not “setting a good example” and “they didn’t want my mistakes to influence the other girls.” This rejection further damaged my self-esteem. I must admit, at the time, this was extremely heart-breaking. I felt I had nowhere to turn. I felt discarded, abandoned and alone.

But God! During my saddest and loneliest moments, I prayed asking God, “Why me”? God constantly reassured me of his love and presence. His love eventually revealed my purpose. God gave me the vision to create a non-profit organization for teenage girls, specifically targeting at-risk girls and young mothers. Basically, my purpose is to provide the type of outlet that I needed as a lost, troubled and broken teenager.

After completing my undergraduate and graduate degrees, Nesting Knowledge at the Wright Place, Inc., was founded. I knew that I needed to do more if I truly wanted to see generational cycles be broken throughout families. I knew I had to dig a little deeper in order to help others to get to the root of their problems.

In July 2015, the “MASKcara Movement” was birthed in order to encourage women to remove their masks of insecurities and pain. That year, I removed my mask, however I still felt the trauma from my past. It was not until October 2017 that God truly revealed the next step to unveiling my mask which was going on a journey of Facing Her™.

In July 2018, the follow-up to the “MASKcara Movement,” Facing Her™ was birthed to focus on the journey that women must take after removing their masks of insecurities and pain.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth road, absolutely not! It has been very challenging. The organization was founded in March 2013 and for the first couple of years, we only had two girls that would show up consistently. It was very discouraging and many times, I wanted to give up, but God would always send a reminder, “stay faithful, in spite of.”

Another obstacle was trying to balance the operations of the non-profit. I am a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, mentor, entrepreneur, full-time employee, supervisor and a leader in ministry. Each role requires a significant amount of my time and at a time I struggled. Now I take breaks, keep a planner and delegate, whenever necessary, for I am no longer afraid to ask for help when needed.

The Facing Her™ movement almost took me out mentally and physically. I had to deal with a significant amount of spiritual warfare in order to give birth to the movement. I had to face myself in order to help other women to face themselves. I had to be broken in order to help women to heal. I had to be lost in order to help women to be found. I had to be restored in order to bring restoration to the broken-hearted. It is a movement that I do not take likely, it’s a movement that requires fasting, prayer and biblical knowledge. I am currently in preparation for the next conference.

Please tell us about Nesting Knowledge at the Wright Place.
Nesting Knowledge at the Wright Place, Inc. is a 501c3 charitable organization that mission is to uplift, motivate, and inspire teenage girls by way of monthly life skills workshops and empowerment events. We are known for our monthly workshops that are held throughout the year. The workshops teach young girls to not only have sight but a vision as well. We focus on promoting self-love, financial literacy, teaching the girls the proper etiquette when dining in a fine restaurant, internet safety, entrepreneurship and so much more.

I am most proud of our growth. We started out with only two girls that were consistent and now, it’s about 40 to 50 girls that attend our monthly workshops. Also, I am proud of the impact that we are making within the girls’ lives. It feels great to receive feedback from the girls, stating how we have made a difference in their lives. We are making a difference, one teenage girl at a time!

What sets us apart from others is the organization being a purpose-driven organization. As a prior troubled youth, I can understand most of the girl’s struggles because I have walked my own journey of insecurity and brokenness. Also, we add our own personal touch to each event. For Instance: At Love Thyself Workshop, each girl is given a mirror and asked to affirm themselves with uplifting phrases. This teaches the girls to not only see a reflection but to see themselves.

The Facing Her™ movement is branded under the Miranda Wrights Company, LLC. Facing Her™ was created in order to help women to remove the mask that conceals their insecurities, flaws and emotional wounds and face their true authentic self.

The movement is known for uplifting and encouraging women to walk in complete boldness and not being ashamed of their past mishaps. The movement is also known for its empowerment conference which at the conference a group of women start the process of facing her by first admitting that they are indeed wearing a mask and next unveiling their mask.

The movement also has an apparel line which help to encourage the women on their journey to Facing Her™. The apparel line signifies that the women will no longer remain silent to issues that they are dealing with internally. I am most proud of seeing people healed and delivered from their past. The movement stands firm on “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” John 8:36, NKJV
