Martha, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After a 10 year career in the automotive industry, I was ready for a change. I realized I could build a business around my two passions: people and travel. I launched my luxury travel company in 2016, creating unique customized itineraries for discerning travelers. The process of starting and growing the business has been a wonderful journey, both challenging and rewarding. Designing highly curated international experiences is not an easy task. Fortunately, my background in management and logistics combined with my love of travel creates the perfect marriage of skills and enthusiasm needed to be successful in this industry.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As with any start-up business, there have been challenges as the business continues to grow and mature. Everyone wants their business to flourish, however with growth comes new obstacles. Above all, the most important part of my business is personal relationships, connections, trust and communication. No matter what dilemma arises, my main focus is always to protect the relationships with my clients and vendors.
Martha Good Bespoke Luxury Travel – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My devotion and attention to detail are what differentiates a travel experience. In order to create personalized experiences, I need to intimately know my clients. What are their interests? What time do they like to get up in the morning? Do they have any allergies? What defines their perfect day? This enables me to examine every detail of the experience and ensure it aligns with their desires.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My career is immensely satisfying for multiple reasons so it is difficult to choose one moment. It is an honor to be given the opportunity to create an experience for someone. When a client returns from a trip and is glowing, it brings me true joy. I am also grateful for all of the amazing relationships I have formed around the world as a result of this business. And, lastly, I am able to travel the world and see so many exotic and exciting places. Overall, I am very fortunate to do what I love every day.
