Today we’d like to introduce you to Marques & Markell LeCounte. Them and their team share their story with us below:
M² Eyewear is owned & operated in South Florida by brothers Marques & Markell under the supervision of their mother Christina McKinney. The idea for this business was created because Marques is always looking for the latest trends in fashion and Eyewear. Although he wears prescription glasses he craves to be different and in style while at the same time protecting his eyes while living in sunny South Florida. So we decided to start a business both brothers can promote and grow up with!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Oh no, it has not been a smooth road! With my mom staying on me about my school work, promoting and posting my business as much as I post on my personal Instagram account. Lol! And learning how to run this business as 12 year old. Not making as much money as I thought when we first launched. To doing pop up shops and having to go around talking to people, I don’t know. It has definitely been a challenge.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am currently in 7th-grade magnet student and my brother is only one year old. I have been playing football since the age of four as a quarterback, I play basketball as well. I also rap from time to time. Check out my YouTube page, “Lil Smurf the Rap Kid” I am most proud of being a top quarterback. The thing that sets me apart from others is my intelligence! I have always been a straight A & B student. My little brother is following behind my footsteps as well he is so smart.
What’s next?
My plans are to continue running this business with my brother and reaching a mainstream status and also playing Pro football or basketball.
