Meet Marlet Lopez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marlet Lopez.

Hi Marlet, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am known for my figurative art pieces in which I juxtapose bold lines capturing people’s energy and emotion. At a very young age, in my native country of the Dominican Republic, I started showing a talent for sketching and painting so my parents decided to enroll me in a painting studio for kids, where I, not only learned basic art techniques but also was able to participate in local art shows. At the age of 15, I studied fashion illustration but when I finished high school, I decided to get her bachelor’s degree in Architecture; a career that years later brought me to Miami. While in Miami, I discovered a young community of artists in where I got inspired and decided to start painting again. In the past years, she has participated in several art exhibits around South Florida, including Wynwood, Miami Design District, Fort Lauderdale, and live painting at events like Spectrum Art Fair during Miami Art Week. My latest collection is all about the conversion of shapes that capture the movement and interaction of the human behavior with faceless silhouettes demonstrating how their journeys meet and evolve…

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
When you do things with love, there is no way to for things to go wrong.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Aside from participating in exhibits, I enjoy inviting the community to discover their talents and shout them out to the world. Countless times people approached me during exhibits to tell me how much they would have loved to explore a talent or passion that they had but life got in the way. So I am constantly looking for opportunities for people to explore what makes them happy. It is my mission to invite people to find their own happiness and I constantly share opportunities of exhibits and support and teach them what I know so far, the joy they get by this is what fills my heart.

In addition, my paintings intention is to deliver the message of unity and love, when this message is interpreted by the public, it is most of my proudest moments,

What’s next?
Having a solo exhibit would be nice, but encouraging the community into more activities related to art would be a dream. Commonly art is misunderstood of being a career that you most likely starve or become famous, but in my opinion there is more than that, art is the fuel of creativity, creativity that can be applicable in any field and situation. Furthermore art is activity that allows for people to meditate and see the little details in life we typically missed. So creating more awareness and being more mindful is the community I would like to see in the future and I want to be part of the project.
