Today we’d like to introduce you to Luisa Rangel.
Luisa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Since I was 15, I worked as a model in Colombia, then I entered the university and graduated as a professional in business administration. At the same time, I worked as a TV host for diferentes programs and I started having a big passion about the fashion & beauty industry.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s never a smooth road. All the processes have struggles, in my case. I was the first in my family who wanted to break through into the world of entertainment and fashion. I had no one to guide me or give me advice on how to start.
Time teaches you that you must know your strengths and weaknesses and work on them. For example, in modeling my weakness was that I wasn’t as tall as my colleagues, and my strength is that I am photogenic, so I focused on commercial and advertising modeling. This made me work as an image for big brands in my country and abroad. I think it does not matter what you want to do, you should be prepared to receive a No as an answer, and even more, prepared when they give you a YES. Do not stop knocking on doors.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am working as a model for 15 years. The fashion and public relations are my passion. Five years ago, I realized that I wanted to give a message through the industry that I love, I started to make Digital and written content revealing stories, emotions and passions and inspired other women to find their own confidence.
Today I work as a lifestyle editor at Imagen Miami magazine, TV host and fashion & beauty contributor to differents Networks like Mundo Hispanico, Cultura Colectiva (Mex) Caracol (Col) between others.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would be more curious when the digital world started. When I was finishing university, the digital era had just begun, blogs, platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, between others. I think that something that would change is having paid more attention and having learned at that time how they worked. That would have saved me a lot of time (laughs).
