Lizsandra, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2016, I opened the Family Medical Clinic, a general medicine practice, inspired by a need to provide the community with affordable and reliable healthcare services, specifically creating affordable payment programs and health services to those that do not qualify for government help or those simply with high deductibles. The Family Medical Clinic now operates in three locations throughout South Florida: Kendall, Homestead and most recently North Miami, opened in the midst of the global pandemic. Serving these communities when they needed it the most by becoming certified and affordable COVID Testing sites. Prior to the Family Medical Clinic, I became a nurse in 2010.
After the birth of my son, I took on the role of a stay at mom until I was given the opportunity to become an assistant to an entrepreneur who had a diverse number of companies. This sparked my entrepreneurial flame leading to the opening of the first FMC location in Kendall. One of our greatest accomplishments in the past year has been the creation of the FMC Rapid Response unit, a program that provides the community of South Florida mobile covid19 testing at events, private businesses, colleges and universities. Most importantly, this program offers free testing to those without insurance. As a serial entrepreneur I expanded on some of the wellness and beauty services provided at FMC to open up Elevate Miami in October of 2019 with my partner Will Eckhardt. Elevate Miami uses the most innovative treatment methods to rejuvenate and improve overall health through hormone replacement therapies, skin rejuvenation services and IV therapies to boost immunity and hydration. Elevate Miami has expanded into its 3rd location in under two years.
In 2019, I also opened a new franchise location for The Tax Team. The Tax Team is a highly recognized and respected tax preparing company that is also women owned and Miami based which aligns with my values of serving the community. Dedicated to helping clients achieve their financial objectives to the highest standard. When I’m not creating some new business concept I love spending quality time with my three children and my partner in life and business, my husband, Jessey Rodriguez. Living a very active lifestyle is my secret to being able to keep up!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like any business figuring out how to stand apart from your competition is always a challenge. At Elevate Miami, what sets us apart is that we are not your typical med spa. Because we work hand in hand with the Family Medical Clinics, our treatments are supervised by medical professionals, including regular lab tests and monitoring to ensure our patient’s good health and well being. It’s cliché to say, but I feel there are no obstacles but opportunities. Every road block we come upon, in business or in life, is an opportunity to come up with a creative solution or work around, sometimes putting you a better path that you weren’t expecting.
