Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Sales.
Lauren, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always liked making people feel better about themselves. I chose Esthetics because, I saw it as a beautiful rewarding profession and I knew this was what I was meant to do!
So of course, I became an Esthetician in 1996 and to this day, I know I made the right decision. After I got my license, I worked in several different spas in Coral gables and in 2009, I opened my own spa “Lauren’s Face the Day”, which I can truthfully call a small ‘oasis” in the middle of Coral Gables!
I believe Esthetics is a science that is constantly evolving with new treatments and procedures in skin care.
I offer top of the line skin products. Our estheticians, as well as myself continue to enrich our knowledge of the most advanced skin care treatments.
I love what I do… and I must be doing it right because more than 75% of our clients have remained loyal to Lauren’s Face the Day for nine years.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a smooth road all the way. At times it was even intimidating. My husband encouraged me to venture out on my own and we faced many obstacles and challenges in the beginning.
From finding the best location to the long process of renovation and completion was a struggle. A lot of hard work, determination and love is what made Lauren’s Face the Day what it is today; a sanctuary of tranquility that our clients feel from the moment they walk in until they leave.
From the beginning, I’ve had a great team that over time has become my extended family. My biggest challenge was yet to come when my husband was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in 2010.
In November of that same year, we started our “Purple Day’, fund raising event from which all proceeds were donated to PANCAN, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for pancreatic cancer. My husband lost the battle against cancer and passed away October 7th of 2012.
I struggled to keep Lauren’s Face the Day running as smooth as possible, while my personal life was a wreck. But with the love and support of my family, close friends and the continued loyalty of my clients, I was able to keep moving forward through this difficult time. Every year, we hold our Purple Day fund raising event which has become huge!
Please tell us about Lauren’s Face the Day.
We are a small spa in the center of hectic Coral Gables. We are known for our quality service and customized facials. We specialize in skin care procedures from detoxifying facials and body waxing to cellulite-reducing treatments. We treat our clients on a first name basis and have even come to know their families. A high percentage of our clients are from referrals and have stayed with us throughout the years!
I think I can confidently say that what sets us apart from the rest and what makes me so proud of my company is, our Annual Purple Day Event, that not only has become one of the largest fund raising events for PANCAN but, is also an event where our clients participate together with friends and family volunteering their time as well as donating to the cause. It has become a large family affair for a good cause!
Our” Mango-mosas Saturdays” have become very popular as well! Come and visit us.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
That’s a hard question because, I am so grateful for what I have accomplished, that I’ve really never given much thought to what I could’ve done differently.
