Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren and Candice Henry.
Lauren and Candice, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Like most stories, ours starts at the beginning— but as sisters, we really do go way back. The two of us embarked on this journey together and discovered our interest in leadership and personal growth pretty early on. Looking back, we can see how these early experiences shaped our future, though we didn’t know it at the time. Our parents made an effort to immerse us in a positive, dream-building atmosphere that had us listening to positive self-talk tapes on the way to ballet class. One thing led to another, and we were attending an international leadership training program where we got to study under successful mentors.
After years of training, we ended up joining the staff, teaching young adults from all over the world about leadership, goal setting, and team building. This passion led us to get our Master’s Degrees in Executive Leadership and become college professors of personal and professional leadership. In all of our studies in this field, we found that a younger voice with an educated perspective was missing. After experiencing this need first hand, we decided to pursue our entrepreneurial desires through the avenue of this passion. Now we’re on a journey to inspire, equip, and empower the next generation of leaders to live lives of purpose, influence, and adventure. We have big dreams and feel that we have only just begun on this journey. The best is yet to come!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The most worthwhile things in life are rarely found on smooth roads. So, like any entrepreneurial journey, ours has been exactly that… a journey. We’ve had to navigate learning curves, wear many hats, pivot quickly, and above all else, be willing to stay in the game. We feel that this is part of the beauty of being an entrepreneur. In the early stages, you have the opportunity to shape your venture exactly how you want and to be intimately involved in every element of the business. This is an experience, though sometimes difficult, that we wouldn’t trade for anything.
Please tell us about Aretios.
Every name has a story. Here’s a little bit of ours. The name Aretios was inspired by the Greek word ‘arete.’ In ancient times, philosophers used it to denote bravery, excellence, and the act of living up to one’s fullest potential. So, with a nod to Aristotle, Plato, and the rest of the gang, the word Aretios was born. We describe Aretios as being your best self, living a life of purpose, integrity, and excellence, and inspiring others to do the same.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
What most people call luck, we see as the moments where preparation and opportunity intersect. That being said, there have been many opportunities that we can only attribute to being God-orchestrated, and that’s what makes this journey the greatest adventure.
