Meet Lauren Grabois Fischer of The Be Books

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Grabois Fischer.

Lauren, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have been a writer for as long as I can remember. I used writing as an outlet for my feelings and it definitely helped me get through many challenging times. I always loved working with children and tutored and nannied my way through college. I became an elementary educator and taught for a total of nine years before having my own children and deciding to stay home with them. It wasn’t until my son and daughter were both born that I decided it was time to share my words with the world. It was always a dream to write children’s books, and with the help of my husband, I made it a reality.

I knew that I wanted to create a brand, a theme. When I was pondering what to focus on, it came to me immediately. I wanted to help create a kinder, more accepting, more respectful world for my children and all children to grow up in. Thus, The Be Books was born. BE as in “be kind,” “be accepting,” and “be you”. I currently have 8 Social Emotional Learning picture books published and have two in the works ready to be published in 2022 and early 2023. I have a million more ideas waiting to be written and illustrated.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
If there is anything I have learned it would definitely be that every beautiful thing takes hard work, dedication, and time. Writing books sounded like such an easy task. It is something I love to do. But I soon learned that just like everything, it takes time. I was surprised at how long the process was from writing to publishing. I learned how difficult it can be to find an illustrator that creates your vision. But at the same time, how exciting it can be to finally see your ideas come to life. I learned how patient you have to be in the process and how being open-minded is an important thing. Publishing is just the beginning. Promoting and selling your books is a whole other challenge in itself. I have learned that when you believe in something with your whole heart, it is easy to want to share it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Well, for starters, I am Lauren Grabois Fischer and I am the author and founder of The Be Books. The Be Books teach children to be positive, accepting, kind, and loving through stories that build self-confidence and create an awareness of being their best self. I currently have eight Social Emotional Learning published picture books all of which empower and inspire children to love themselves, be kind to others, and be the good in the world. Two new books will join the collection in 2022 and early 2023. What sets The Be Books apart from other children’s books? In addition to inspiring children in positive ways, I have added bonus pages in each of my paperback and hardcover books. These “Inspiration/Discussion Pages” and “Activity Pages” include questions to ask your children and/or students. These questions are here to reinforce positive thinking and independent thought. Teachers are using these as lesson plan starters and are using them in classrooms around the world. For free activity pages and lesson plans, visit the Kids Corner on The Be Books’ website.

The eight published books include: Be Who You Were Meant To Be, You Are A Superhero, Every So Often A Zebra Has Spots, Love Grows Love, The Light Within Me, LIFE, The Zoo’s Big News, and The ABC’s to a Mindful Life.

Each of my books are available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Target, and Walmart websites as well as The Be Books website www.thebebooks.com

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I would say gratitude is what makes someone lucky. When you focus on what you have rather than what you lack, you feel pretty lucky. I am grateful for all of the support I have had from family and friends. I am grateful for the community and the overwhelming love and support towards my books. The more love I get, the more I get inspired to write and share with the world.
