Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenya Mitchell.
Hi Kenya, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
When I originally started my journey in the beauty industry I was a little girl. I played with makeup, got my nails done with my grandma, and watch my mom on the bed put her makeup on.
As I got older in my teen years, I would go to family dollar and buy nail tips. I would polish them put stickers on them and put them on. At that time, I didn’t know that was what I wanted to do.
I said so many things like a veterinarian cosmetologist or a massage therapist. Wasn’t until I started to wear makeup myself and get into that that I did, lol. That it was a thought to do makeup.
In high school, I agreed to be a massage therapist and got accepted into Miami Dade after I graduate. Of course, I didn’t go because I came up of with why not do both. The veterinarian idea was long gone by the way. So I began my search to find a school I can go to take up makeup, nails, and massage therapy. Beauty Schools of America was the school I graduated from in 2016 after I went through 3 different courses.
Spa therapy, Cosmetology, and Makeup. At that time when I graduate, I tried different shops to work at USA and Liberty Flea Market. During that time I was also working other jobs and doing that I lose my passion and what makes me happy. So I always use to put it on the back burner.
In 2018, I worked at Forever 21, I started to get a little serious and back into it when I found my love back for it. I just wasn’t quite there. That was the year that I started buying lash supplies to teach myself with the help of YouTube. I took my first lash training class to work at the amazing lash studio. That didn’t work out so I moved on. I got really really serious in 2019 when I was tired of doing security work.
I put my foot down and told myself that I don’t want to work for nobody else, so I took up a class in nails as I was working in a lash store called get lashed in 2020. So I am doing nails at home, lashes, and brows at the store. I was living until things were starting to get bad. I started to realize that now I’m doing what I love but I want more I always talked about having a 5-star salon with my mom.
So I started to get my brand together and change the name of what it used to be to something that’s different and original and speaks to me and what I do. 2020 AccessorizeWithKey was born, in 2021, I evolved from the lash store and went on my own to build my brand. Things started to get better after I slowed myself down to make sure I was doing everything I needed to do as a business and business owner.
I had appointments and was building my brand. There were times when I wanted to give up. That wasn’t in my vocabulary, so I changed my mindset to help me better myself and my business. And by doing that it got me here where I Am Today. 2022 is pressure time I have grown so much business-wise and personal-wise.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Yes and no, as it should, every business has its high days and its low days. When you have low days you have to appreciate them and remember to stay positive.
Why because even though you don’t get sales or have appointments it’s always something you’re going to appreciate that will happen.

I am a nail artist, lash artist, and brow artist. I specialize in lash extensions, lash lifts, brow waxing, brow tinting, and nails. I am known for being a jack of all trades I do it all.
I am most proud of my progress because I stay positive and see the light in everything. What sets me apart from others is that I will be me and I want you to meet me and know who I am.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Everyone always says this and it’s true Do Not Give Up on your passion or your dreams. Live for yourself and create the life YOU want not the life others want for you.
