Meet Katy Coffield of Foodie Tribe in Coral Gables

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katy Coffield.

Katy, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started writing a food blog in 2009 for a class at the University of Miami. My passion for food and writing quickly turned into the opportunity to be invited to local restaurants to review their food and environment. And in 2016 I decided to create Foodie Tribe, a community of local foodies who wanted to promote their city through its food and culture. Very quickly after opening up our application process we were receiving applicants from all over the US, and world who wanted to be a part of our community.

From one day to the next Foodie Tribe turned from a local community organization to an influencer talent agency – where we were pairing influencers to projects with brands within the food & beverage industry.

Now, almost four years later we have over 2,000 approved vetted content creators all over the globe who are working with brands like Red Lobster, McDonald’s, Litehouse Foods, Atkins Ranch, among others.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Owning your own business is never truly a smooth road. You are constantly needing to be everywhere at once. I have learned to master the art of multitasking, and delegating different responsibilities to other team members so that I use my time most effectively.

Please tell us about your business.
Foodie Tribe is an influencer talent marketing agency. We receive numerous requests from brands, agencies and restaurants within the food & beverage industry that want to collaborate with content creators. I am truly proud of the community we have created online, and in person when we have actual events. Our influencers are proud to be a part of the Foodie Tribe, and we will continue working to make sure they are always proud of this community!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Learned how to delegate early on. One of the best things I have done is learned when and where I should be spending my time. When you are running your own business it is sometimes hard to let go of certain responsibilities because you are used to running it all. Foodie Tribe wouldn’t be where it is today if it weren’t for the team we have created, especially all of the help Dara gives to the team!
