Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Lemieux and Kate Campell.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We help therapists brand themselves and grow their dream private practices!
Kate and I co-own The Private Practice Startup because we saw a dire need for therapists to learn the step-by-step proven marketing system to stay in business, so they can fulfill their mission and serve the people they were meant to serve.
Kate and I have our own successful private practices, but things didn’t exactly start out that way.
In fact, it started out very differently. When Kate and I first got into private practice neither of us had a clue about business. We had the ‘field of dreams mentality”, “if you build it they will come”. THAT, my friends, does NOT work in business.
Neither of us had any business knowledge. We did anything and everything to stay in business. We had a scarcity mindset. I mean we had to pay our bills and eat, right! We were running after anything and everything. We did all the wrong things from being generalists, not having an ideal client, and marketing all the wrong ways.
Luckily, we are both determined and persistent. We continued to stick things out, educate ourselves about business, hired people who could help us, built teams, outsourced things and learned a ton about marketing and sales.
We were both able to save our businesses and made them successful and sustainable in less than 2 years. We have had consistent success ever since.
Other clinicians were inspired and intrigued about our success, so they started to ask us, “how did you do that?”
We naturally began to coach other therapists and that is how The Private Practice Startup was born.
Our company was created in 2014. We started out as a local statewide company offering trainings to clinicians. We have since expanded and offer our services across the globe.
We have been podcasting since 2016 and love it. It allows us to offer free and valuable resources to clinicians. We also offer Attorney Approved Private Practice Paperwork and have recently launched our baby, our Marketing E-Course and Coaching Program.
We serve therapist all around the globe who are committed to learning how to market effectively, so they can work with the people they are meant to serve.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been many struggles along the way.
We were both able to create successful private practices and then when we created The Private Practice Startup some of our old and bad business behaviors crept in.
Luckily, we were able to recognize what we were doing, and we took a giant step back implemented what we know and then began to move forward more succinctly and rapidly.
Creating an online business was also a huge learning curve from the dreaded tech (ugh), to learning how to market differently when it came to an online business.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Private Practice Startup – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
We help therapists across the globe to brand themselves and grow their dream practices.
We have a weekly podcast that has been in publication since 2016 and going strong. On the podcast, we interview experts in the business and private practice arenas on everything private practice.
We also offer Attorney Approved Private Practice Paperwork for clinicians taking the headache and guesswork out of creating paperwork that is both legal and ethical, not to mention saving therapists hours of time and thousands of dollars on paying high attorneys’ fees.
We also help therapists cut through the noise by helping them where they need it the most, marketing their private practice. We do this with our Marketing E-Course and Coaching Program. Our coaching program is designed to help therapists learn the step-by-step proven marketing system they need not only to grow a private practice but any business.
We are pretty astounded by the amazing results or coachees get even before they implement all the tools. It is pretty mind-blowing.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are looking forward to continuing to grow our coaching program and offering tons of valuable information.
We are also looking to do more live events and continue to grow our business connecting with more clinicians in other countries.
