Today we’d like to introduce you to Julian Hanlan.
Julian , can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Julian Hanlan, I am an entertainer/business owner. I’ve been entertaining since high school, where I hosted the school’s pep rally’s for homecoming. I brought that talent over to college where I started hosting campus talent shows and pageants, all doing this for free and for experience and exposure, because I felt comfortable speaking in front of large crowds of people and I loved the attention and making people laugh, dance, smile, clap. Soon after I found myself getting booked for different gigs, on and off campus. I took full advantage of these opportunities. My friend Ricky got me to transition this talent into acting, started off doing funny skits, some scripted and some improve and then we grew into scripted web series, Close Friends, which had 4 successful seasons and won best web series at the American Black Film Festival. I’ve also had another successful Web Series “Diary Of A Cheating Man” and two feature films that have hit retails stores such as WalMart and Amazon, “Intuition” and “True Colors”
Also, my brand 2KLIFe, which was founded in 2009 has been known for throwing some of the best events in South Florida, most notably, Rooftop Sundays, a weekly Sunday party in Pompano Florida, and the 2KPoolParty, which we have twice a year, typically in Miami which hosts over 2000 People every time from all over the Nation. We’ve been doing the Pool Party for 6 years, it started in my dad’s backyard, as an idea to have out of boredom and has grew to what it is now.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There been many challenges on this never ending path to success. Every obstacle that any creative or business has gone through we have as well. You name it, bad deals, bad contracts, staying motivated, communication, money losses, bad weather, just to name a few.
At the end of the day we’re human so we go through all of the same things that anyone would, some days you just wake up on the wrong side, but we never let our bad days get us down, and we keep striving because doing what we love is our ultimate goal and until we want to do what we love and have that support ourselves and our families.

My Company 2KLife is an entertainment company. We specialize in events throughout South Florida, as well as production. We are most known for our web series, our clothing line, the soflo movement, 2kpoolparty, rooftopsundays.
We are most proud of our longevity, we’re approaching a decade of running this business which started from parties in college and grew to this empire as its known today.
What sets us apart from others is we are a collective with individual talents that compliment one another and we all have a common goal of success, so the vision is brought to life in various ways.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was into sports a lot and music. Those were my outlets of expression, im a die hard hip hop fan, every since I was about 5-6 years old til now, and a die hard basketball fan.
Growing up I was an only child on my mother’s side, so a lot of times it was me and my imagination, Im a dreamer.
I was the kid that was shy around adults, but really showed my personality around my peers.
