Meet Josue Vargas of Lando & the Infinite Sadness in Pembroke Pines

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josue Vargas.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started playing music when I was in middle school. I loved drums, bass, guitar, and keys, so I did whatever I could to absorb those instruments during that stage in my life. I remember sneaking into my older brother’s room as a kid and playing his guitar when he wasn’t home. He eventually caught on and gave it to me as a gift for Christmas one year, I still use that same guitar to this day! I immediately started trying to write songs and form bands with friends. Once I found out there was a local music scene where I lived I knew I had to jump on the chance to get involved. That’s when I found out about The Talent Farm.

There was this whole community of people like me who just loved music and wanted to be around it. I started playing shows there and met some of the most amazing people in my life through that place. Stemming from there, I ended up going on tours and playing really cool diy spaces, house shows and venues leading up to playing awesome music events like “The Fest” with the band Woolbright, and “III Points” with the artist Bear. Now I’m just doing all I can to play and create as much music as possible, be it collaborations, production, songwriting, or even just playing as a “gun for hire” with artists I love and respect.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has definitely had it’s fair share of bumpy spots, but music is a labor of love and each challenge makes you wiser and has a lesson you can learn from. There are a lot of times where it’s hard to justify all of the hours, hard work and money spent on a passion of yours. When you’re not sure if you’re even going to be able to pay all of your bills for the month or put food on the table, but the alternative is a life where you’re not going after what you love and I couldn’t see myself going in that direction.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I love to fuse together my affinity for jazz/hip-hop/emo/neo soul/alternative rock. I would like to think that if I’m known for anything, it would be that I don’t put my creativity in “a box”, and that I will always be trying to push my creative envelope. What I’m most proud of at the moment is just the fact that I get to work and create with such amazing people and that I have a bunch of music that I can’t wait to release into the world!

What are your plans for the future?
I am currently working on three albums, each with completely different sounds and different people and I definitely plan on playing a lot of shows and touring!
