Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Bordner.
Jessica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 2009, I was working a 9-5pm job with a childhood friend of mine. On the weekends we would take our camera’s out for fun and we realized over after work dinners and many weekends hanging out that we both had similar passions and dreams of photography. We decided to take a leap. We started off photographing friends of ours, which turned into getting client inquiries and by the end of 2009, we decided to open our wedding photography company Stay Forever Photography. After just a year of hard work and pushing forward with our dream, we were both able to take the next leap and quit our other “jobs” and start focusing on our company as our careers. After many years of weddings and photographing our clients grow, we too grew personally and after Melissa moved we decided it would be time to branch out on our own. We still to this day work together when we can! In 2014, was when we made this new leap. Starting Jessica Bordner Photography felt as if I was starting brand new. I was rebranding and totally recreating a new company. It was definitely scary but exciting to take this passion of mine into new places it had never been. I took everything I loved about being a photographer and placed it into this company. I’ve been lucky enough to have photographed hundreds of weddings and love stories around the world and excited to see what is next. I love to grow, learn, teach and hope that it gets even better as the years pass.
Has it been a smooth road?
I would say, I feel lucky enough to say it was smooth! There are always bumps and struggles along the way but getting past them quickly helped me learn and grow. Starting new in 2014 was probably the scariest little turn in the road but the leap was well worth it. There was always growing pains and new situations with clients and events that we and I still run into to this day but learning to manage your business with passion and compassion help to keep that road as smooth as possible.

When Jessica Bordner started I took two of the things I loved so much and put them together. I love everything southern charm, I love photographing clients in sweet golden light, lots of beautiful trees, along cobblestone streets. It made me giddy to find the charm in areas even here in beachside Florida. I specialize in love stories and weddings and I think I am known for my warm and happy images. I am most proud of my companies successes even through different aspects of personal life. I try hard to keep a healthy balance of work and life, which can be hard when you are your business you can find yourself working 24/7. I think what sets me apart is my experience. Yes, photos and images can be beautiful, and there are so many photographers out there way more experienced than me, but my passion for creating memories for my clients and not just signing a contract and showing up. I truly want to figure out each of my clients happy moments, and what makes them unique and then capture that for them!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes! Florida is unique in that you truly can photograph weddings and all sorts of other photography all year round. Its a place for destination couples and our weather treats us pretty well all year round. Though we have A LOT of us around, I believe when you provide what is unique to you, and build a brand to represent that. You can succeed in this industry. Be kind and share and teach your community!
