Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Gomez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jennifer. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
From really early on in life, I knew I wanted to be on the preventative side of the law. I had my first law firm job in high school and went on to become one of the youngest lawyers in Florida at the time, I was admitted at age 23. Soon after, I started Jennifer Gomez, PA where we provide peace of mind through preventative planning. We work closely with families to come up with plans to protect themselves and their loved ones if they are disabled and at death.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Believe it or not, the biggest continuing struggle we have is overcoming a population that is largely misinformed about wills, trusts and estates. Film, television, and old wives tales have proliferated the rumors that estate planning is only for the rich, that it is a long arduous process or that it is unneeded. We provide attorney led seminars to community groups, libraries, religious organizations, and the like. We also provide pro bono estate planning to low-income families through Legal Aid of Broward. Both help us reach typically underserved populations and correct faulty assumptions.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a law firm that helps families protect themselves and those they care about through estate and incapacity planning. Death and serious illness are inevitable parts of life. We make the logistical and financial aspects organized and efficient so families can focus on the grieving process.
We are strong supporters of charitable organizations like Community Greening, which is helping rebuild Florida’s native tree canopy, and Tomorrow’s Rainbow, a camp that provides grief support to children through therapeutic play and miniature horse interactions. We are helping Tomorrow’s rainbow set up additional programs for the students, teachers, and the siblings of victims of the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.
What were you like growing up?
I was always a great student. However, I was a bit rambunctious. In a lot of ways excelling in school saved me. It’s easy to see how my life would have been a lot different if I hadn’t done well and got an education.
