Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Lewis.
Hi Jasmine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Well, my interest began in nails around age 16. I didn’t go to the salon as much as I would’ve liked to, so I used to experiment with the nail kits that were sold at the local beauty supply store. I didn’t do a bad job with my at-home acrylic sets and always kept my results in the back of my head. As I grew older, I was that person getting their nails done every 2-3 weeks because I was just in love with the art of nails. I would always ask my nail techs questions about nails just out of curiosity.
It wasn’t until 2018 when everything in my life started to take a turn for the worst. I was at the lowest point of my life mentally, spiritually, financially, and emotionally. Almost everything that I loved, I’d lost. I had been living my life on autopilot.
It would just be that nails would pop up more and more in my brain, on my Instagram feed, quotes about starting new and I just decided to dive into a new hobby to distract me from what was happening around me.
I went out and bought over $200 in nail products and would spend hours on YouTube learning about the nail industry. That journey began on August 28, 2018. I became obsessed with getting better and improving my craft. I grew so passionate about what I was doing and haven’t turned back since.
I’ve gone as far as 2 hours away to Orlando and 12 Hours Away to North Carolina to improve my craft.
Fast forward, almost four years later that burning passion birthed a new version of me. I’ve been able to grow from a part-time business out of my apartment to now being a Full-Time Licensed Nail Tech & Entrepreneur.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh no, not at all! But I know that there will be obstacles in anything you do. God will show you the dream but doesn’t say it’ll be an easy road. Entrepreneurship takes a lot out of you, there’s a lot of ups and downs and requires a lot of strength along the journey.
I always hear “The race is not for the swift, but who can endure it.” So as things come I just take it as apart of the journey and try my best to move on.
But overall, it has been a rewarding road thus far.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Licensed Nail Technician/Artist specializing in Acrylic Nail Extensions and Art. I also offer nail courses to beginner nail technicians or those who want improve their techniques.
I’ve recently launched my own Acrylic Powder Line “The Eight28 Collection”. My online store currently offers 6 premium cover colors for nail professionals and will be later expanding the collection in the coming months.
I am most proud of the fact that I can impact others through nails. Teaching nails has been the most rewarding experience thus far because I can take a talent that God gave me and teach it to others. When my students send me video updates of their progress it really warms my heart.
What I can say sets me apart from others would be my unwavering passion for my craft.I don’t see myself as just a “Nail Tech” – I see so much more potential in this industry. I am obsessed with getting better in every aspect of my business. I never settle and I am never content, I always want bigger.
