Today we’d like to introduce you to Janet Bayramyan.
Janet, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I became a therapist because naturally I wanted to help others. My journey to becoming a therapist has been a long one, but an absolute rewarding journey. It’s because of my own struggles, and the amazing clinicians I was exposed to, that led to me to seek education to become a therapist as well. My own trauma recovery guided me to learn that I have a gift that can help others heal. I was born incredibly sensitive, and unfortunately society tells us that we have to “man up,” push, and fight away our feelings. Society tells us that sensitivity is weak. I am here to say that sensitivity is one of our greatest strengths and gifts.
As a sensitive person, I am compassionate, empathetic, passionate, self aware, and a good listener. I encourage others to share their stories so that they can find where their power is, and where their strength lies. Because we all have it. What brought me to beautiful sunny Miami, FL is love and adventure! I am originally from Los Angeles, California. And while I love the West Coast, I feel Miami and South Florida is home. Southeast Florida is one of the most charming places to live and visit. I adore the warm and sunny beaches. I love the vitality of the city, and the amazing art and culture all around. I appreciate and enjoy working with my clients in Florida.
I work with individuals who have experienced trauma in their childhoods and adult lives. I also work with couples that want to improve their communication skills, and to improve their sexual intimacy. I’ve noticed that because of the hardships of 2020, more and more people are reaching out for therapy. And I am glad and grateful that we can continue to eliminate the stigma. We shouldn’t wait until things get so bad to reach out for help. Help is out there and going to therapy is an incredible investment in yourself!
I joined the Love Discovery Institute in 2019, with visionary Dr. Carolina Pataky. We offer individual and couples therapy, trauma recovery, sex therapy, infidelity recovery, and depression and anxiety management. Some of the techniques I utilize include EMDR, Havening Techniques, and Emotional Freedom Techniques. I am an example that recovery and healing is possible. Healing is also possible for you.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The only obstacle in life that I feel many can relate to is the obstacle of ourselves. Sometimes we get in our own way. And if I could tell the version of myself from five years ago, or even one year ago that I would succeed in ways I never thought possible, I would tell her in a heartbeat.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m involved with the Love Discovery Institute in Coral Gables and Miami Beach, FL. We offer individual and couples therapy, sex therapy, trauma recovery, depression and anxiety management, breath work, and infidelity recovery. In my own practice, Road to Wellness Therapy, I offer virtual counseling for both CA and FL residents.
As a company, I am most proud of the tools that we offer. We have worked with individuals who had little to no hope, and individuals who experienced such significant trauma. With the tools and resources we have offered, we have seen both individuals and couples process their issues and move forward with a more thoughtful and healthier mindframe. I utilize EMDR, Havening Techniques, Emotional Freedom Techniques, and I love to keep it real with empathy.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by first and foremost, always doing our best. Even if it doesn’t produce “big” results, success I believe is in the effort, and the journey. I also define success by balancing work, passion, and pleasure. I believe that if we focus on our passion, success will come.
