Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Maitland.
Jamie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a local Floridian, born and raised in Fort Lauderdale. I started as a bartender for the original CAFE MARTORANO, I worked there for six years and met an array of interesting people, to say the least. I have always been into fitness sports etc., and at the time was indoor cycling quite a bit. I saw a need for a “cool” cycling studio in Fort Lauderdale and 2015 my cousin and I did just that, we successfully co-opened a 4,000sq ft. indoor cycling studio which started my fitness career.
In 2017, I ended up selling my shares from the company and created a new fitness concept in February of this year. THE OFFICE, which was my parent’s work office for years has now been transformed into a very unique one stop shop that offers a variety of different workouts under one roof.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Yes and no. The first business I had two partners, one of which was family. Long story short, the partnership took a turn for the worse hence the reason I sold my shares. I thank them every day because if that experience never happened, I would have never opened this new concept!
Please tell us about your business.
The Office was created to deliver a group fitness concept that differed from everything else in the South Florida area. We are a result driven studio that welcomes all fitness levels, our classes are designed to maintain the perfect balance of consistency and confusion for your muscles. We host only 12 spots per class which allows our handpicked and elite coaches to closely monitor your efforts. MUSIC & VIBE are everything! This is very important to us, just as important as the workouts are. Our high ceiling workout room features colorful mood lighting that will change depending on your class, as well as a crystal clear sound system that will rival any night club. The Office is not only visually unique, but it is also a one stop shop fitness studio where you can get all different styles of workouts under one roof. Equipment will vary from a ballet barre to boxing bags, to dumbbells that range from 5lb to 100lbs. We encourage you to keep an open mind when you workout with us, you may surprise yourself of what your body can do given the right environment and instruction. Details are important and so is your health, we look forward to challenging your body and inspiring your mind.
I am most proud of our attention to detail, the quality of our instructors and our commitment to keeping this up daily. Honestly, everything about us sets us apart from others. Our studio is one of a kind and is just something you have to come to see and experience for yourself.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would not change a thing! I am thankful for the experiences I have had so far and where they have led me to.
