Today, we’d like to introduce you to Jaida Deco. Jaida was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Jose Lawrence.
Jaida, thank you so much for joining us today. We’d love for you to bring our readers up to speed – can you introduce yourself and share your story?
First and foremost I want to say thank you for extending this wonderful opportunity to be able to highlight what I do and for creating a community for creatives and community leaders such as myself.
My name is Jaida Decoteau, but through a great friend of mine Jay Hunt we thought it’d be cool to change my name to Jaida Deco. I began modeling in Boston, Massachusetts at the tender age of 16. My sister Akeela and I were walking by our local neighborhood clothing store Provida Fashions and one of the owners Provida stopped us in our tracks and asked if we modeled. We weren’t experienced at the time, but with it being summer time we wanted a way to fill our time! We hopped on the opportunity and began attending rehearsal after rehearsal! When it came to the big Fashion show day, once I hit that runway I knew that modeling and walking in fashion show as was what I wanted to pursue!
I began walking in many local fashion shows from age 16-21! During each fashion show I was able to meet and connect with many designers, fashion industry leaders and photographers. As I got to see the different opportunities that could come from being connected to a vast fashion community I began to switch over to the behind the scenes. I began starting my short but fun career as a makeup artist! From makeup artistry, I even booked a couple gigs as a creative director where I would assist modes in coming up with a photo shoot idea and assist them with posing; or even just being a really great hype woman allowing who I worked with to break out of their shells!
From there I came up with the idea of DecoBrand Agency, where it would be a one stop shop where different talents could come to me for branding assistance, starting their brand or getting connected to the right people. Under DecoBrand Agency I am my own client, I have networking, marketing, graphic designing and creative directing skills that I have brought together to create my other mini brands; Jaida Deco, Decostwerkshop and DecoBrandBeauty.
Jaida Deco is me I am the brand, I model, I act and I am a really great brand ambassador for The Lucky Onez, Pop Lock and Slay and Hype Your Friends Drip. I am also looking to get into philanthropy work because I enjoy giving back my time and energy to the community.
Decostwerkshop is my all inclusive fitness brand. We focus on twerking, but with fitness components added. This brand was created to truly bring others out of their shells and to as our motto says, “In Here Be You.” We cherish people being the most truest versions of themselves while working on their health and a fun way to fitness!
DecoBrand Beauty is my nail tech company where I bring the beauty into the comfort of your own homes. We are a mobile beauty business that focuses on makeup and nail care! We believe in bringing the spa to you and focusing on self love and self care!
I am well known in my city for my energy and ideas I bring to the table as well as how committed I am to each cause and job I sign up for.
Now I am currently reintroducing myself into the modeling game with a refined taste and go getter style.
Please tell us more about your brand, Deco Brand Agency
DecoBrand Agency is a one stop shop where different talents could come to me for branding assistance, starting their brand or getting connected to the right people. Under DecoBrand Agency I am my own client, I have networking, marketing, graphic designing and creative directing skills that I have brought together to create my other mini brands; Jaida Deco, Decostwerkshop and DecoBrandBeauty What sets me apart from others is my creativity and the energy I bring. I am able to pinpoint a brands strengths and weaknesses to help them elevate from the point they are at and show them how to reach out to a broader audience in an extremely creative and eye catching way. I am most proud of how much I am just like my brand. My brand is positive and aims to help people grow and break people out their shell. Which is very much how I already am as an individual.
Jose Lawrence and JLaw Inspired Images have been great to us and I know you’ve got a great relationship with them as well. Maybe you can tell our audience a bit about Jose Lawrence and JLaw Inspired Images and your experience with them.
Shooting with Jose was like never missing an assignment and ACING it! Jose found me on Model Mayhem and from there we set up a formal meeting. When we met we were both at a point where we were rebranding ourselves and looking to take our art and craft to the next level!
From there we spoke non stop and shared resources and tips and tricks to elevate our brands as individuals and as a brand together. Jose immediately understood the professionalism I was going for as I understood his.
Once we booked our first shoot together and completed it, I knew then that this was going to be a positive experience. Jose brought all the necessities a model would need from; water, oils, a speaker, and much more items that a model should bring but if we ever needed something extra we can count that Jose will have it on hand!
It was smooth communication between Jose and I if there was ever to be a delay we were able to communicate it effectively and in a timely manner!
He brings a detailed eye and comfortable atmosphere to our shoot. I am looking forward to the next projects we are going to execute. I am extremely confident in our growth together as brand partners because we understand what eachother’s goals are which makes it easy to trust him with our growth. I believe Jose brings not only his art to the table but an effective business side that all creatives need in their lives to truly grow to be more than just a picture on Instagram, but a business in the long run.
I feel confident in connecting Jose to each of my creative friends as I feel like he brings and energy and attitude to the table that makes it easy to work with.
When I got the results from our first shoot i was impressed with the quality and how he would fix anything I was comfortable with. From there I knew that his artistry mixed with mine would be a master collaboration. We have a lot more work to do, but with what we have done already I am confident we will be breaking molds and barriers in the future to come.
