Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Jas and Sasha Dimitrjevitch.
Jackie and Sasha’s experience working with children started at a very early age. Jackie’s professional experience providing services to children began in 2007 when she volunteered at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital (formerly known as Miami Children’s Hospital) in the Child Life department. She later discovered the field of ABA, and after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology; she completed a master’s degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis. Jackie started her career in ABA as a Verbal Behavior Therapist where she worked with children with a wide range of developmental disabilities. She opened Peak Therapy Center to continue working with children with special needs in a greater capacity.
Sasha was first introduced to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in 2009, while she was completing her undergraduate coursework. The courses in ABA sparked her interest in the field, and she later worked as a Verbal Behavior Therapist for a well-known ABA company in Miami. Here, she provided ABA therapy services to children diagnosed with autism and other related developmental disorders. Her career later developed into an administrative role, when she became the office manager for another ABA company in 2013. It was here that she learned the insurance side and administrative side of the field, which led her to open Peak Therapy Center.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have definitely been some struggles along the way, but we have learned that timing and patience are everything. Although we had talked about opening an ABA company for years, “life happens” and a lot of things had to fall into place for Peak Therapy Center to go from being our dream to becoming our reality. Finding the right moment to open our business took some rearranging of our personal lives and tons of planning- but working together has been so fun, and we are so blessed to be able to do what we truly love!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Peak Therapy Center – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are an ABA company in Florida. ABA stands for applied behavior analysis, which is a science that focuses on improving specific behaviors. We work with children with autism, developmental delays, ADHD, and problem behaviors. We are known for the variety of services we provide such as parent training, consultation, and professional development as well as other services.
In addition to our experience in ABA, we both have counseling backgrounds. This allows us to work with our clients’ caregivers, teachers, and other professionals more successfully. We approach our work in a collaborative manner with the people who are in our clients’ day-to-day lives. This ensures that our clients will have an individualized team, which will ultimately provide more effective and longer lasting results.
As a company, we are proud of the meaningful work we provide our clients and the positive impact we help make in their lives. We are immensely dedicated to providing support, guidance, and encouragement to all of our clients and their families. As providers, we are often one of the first people that families contact after having their child diagnosed; we understand how difficult and stressful that time can be for them. Because of this, we pride ourselves in making the process as smooth as possible by walking them through each step of obtaining services. We take our time to really explain everything thoroughly and answer any questions they may have. From diagnosis to insurance questions, to short-term and long-term goals- we are with our families every step of the way.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are looking forward to collaborating with other professionals and becoming a multi-specialty center, in order to better serve our community.
