Meet Indigo Dreamers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Indigo Dreamers.

Hello Indigo Dreamers, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Coming from different corners of the world, we serendipitously met while studying music at university. We shared the same perspective on so many things from life to music to what we wanted to create in this world and this deep connection was the catalyst for our music adventure. Once we graduated, we began learning and arranging some of Jamie’s original songs as well as a variety of cover songs and started performing at various venues across South Florida. Meanwhile, Jamie won the iTunes Music Festival Competition for her song “Blue” and also had a collection of songs that we decided to produce together and make into a full-length album. The record ended up taking three years to make and through the process, we learned so much about our craft and our vision for creating together. This is when Indigo Dreamers was born. We released our debut album Lessons of Blue in 2017 and it went on to receive notable press from AXS, Pop Dose, and I’m Music Magazine. Since then, we have released three singles, a couple music videos, and we started a YouTube channel where we release weekly videos. Our cover of the hit song “Trampoline” is featured on Sirius XM’s The Covers Channel. We continue to perform in the South Florida area and have had the honor of opening up for a variety of different artists including the Counting Crows at SunFest 2022, Shawn Mullins, and Dar Williams at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a truly independent music artist certainly brings with it a host of challenges. We do everything ourselves from writing, arranging, and recording our songs to the business side of things including marketing, promotions, publicity, booking, and managing ordinary business tasks. We spend a good amount of time and energy on these business tasks, and it can sometimes feel overwhelming and stressful. These tasks are essential to what we do, but sometimes we wish we could focus more on the creative things and making more content. We are always trying to maintain a good balance between the creative and business side of things, and we are currently looking to outsource a few of our tasks so we can be more productive in the creative areas. With that being said we are so happy to be independent musicians and we feel it is truly a gift. We have complete control over our career and vision, and we have the power to go in any direction we choose!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
When performing live, Indigo Dreamers are a soulful pop duo that features a delicate and dulcet female vocal combined with minimalistic, yet dynamic and colorful arrangements. Whether we are performing one of our originals or a cover song, the listening experience is often perceived as fresh and memorable by our fans. Our songs are focused on the human condition and sift through different concepts such as the quest for true love, heartbreak, the search for meaning, and connecting to our higher selves. The songs on our debut album are from the perspective of an innocent adolescent navigating relationships and searching for a calmness and direction in a stormy world. Our singles Marriage of Sound and Time On My Hands are from the perspective of a matured person following their internal urge to connect to source energy and unite with a higher purpose in a world full of obstacles and distractions.

Any big plans?
We are about to embark on making another record. We have been asked by our fans to record our live performances and because of this, we have decided to make a covers album that will be very similar to our live performance. We also have a fresh collection of original songs that we would like to turn into an EP and explore some new sonic territory with. Our sound is evolving as our relationship and creativity mature and we can’t wait to share it with our fans. In addition, we also have a YouTube channel where we release videos, usually live performances, every other week.
