Meet Panos Chalvantzis of The Helio Group in Boca Raton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Panos Chalvantzis.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Panos. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My entrepreneurial journey started in 1999, right out of college when with two friends we built and sold an internet startup company (Entropia, Inc.) to a European technology conglomerate just before the NASDAQ crashed in March of 2000.

In 2001, I co-founded Travelive (www.Travelive.com) in New Jersey. Now and after 17 years the company has offices in the US, Brazil, and Europe. It is considered a preferred and reputable luxury travel company for Greece, Italy, Spain and more.

In 2013 we opened our office in Boca Raton, where I now spend most of my time. This provided the opportunity to expand into real estate investments and luxury residential sales through my newest venture: The Helio Group (www.TheHelioGroup.com).

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I welcome obstacles and challenges. They keep me alert and ready for the next move. Success comes by solving problems and turning them into opportunities.

September 11 and the financial/housing crisis of 2008 were the two biggest obstacles we faced. Both almost brought many of my partners and me to our knees. With hard work, superior client service, dedication, and focus. We managed to overcome and to get out stronger.

The Helio Group – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Regarding Luxury Real Estate, our group focuses on the South Florida market especially from Palm Beach down to Miami.

What’s your favorite memory from childhood?
I grew up in Athens Greece in the 80s-90s and have many fond memories. My favorite was leaving home for the first time in June at the age of 16 to spend the summer on the island of Crete. I can remember packing and taking the ferry boat for 10 hours with just $50 in my pocket. It was enough money for a few days, but I manage to find work and stay in Crete all summer, returning to Athens in September.

I worked in tavernas, bars, and selling paintings in the streets while staying at a youth hostel at night. It was thrilling to interact with people from all over the world. I gained the experience and the sense survival that comes from starting and 0 and accomplishing a goal. This planted deep in my DNA that the sky is the limit. This 3-month childhood adventure became the foundation for my life adventure that started in 1997 when I immigrated to the USA.
