Meet Gregory Pierre

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregory Pierre.

Hi Gregory, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My art journey started early. As a kid, I was really into comics. What that turned into eventually was the career on tattooing after 12 years of tattooing, I wanted to transition to something else, luckily meeting LEBO who is well-known artist in Miami, he invited me to his studio, and once I got there, I knew this was how I wanted to transition as an artist. He had appears canvases in many states of completion, there was writing on the walls, this was confirmation that this is what I wanted to do. I immediately started to buy canvas and supplies and started painting… a month in from creating pieces, I small local art show called “chocolate and art” and almost everything sold. Further confirming that this is something I can do and it will work. From then I just threw myself into it and I was making pieces and staying active, all the while continuing to tattoo. Immediately I was able to make sales on a regular bases, I was maintaining a presence on histogram and doing as many local art shows as possible, I was painting live, I was doing murals for free and at a low cost, I was active on the streets… then I meet a local art dealer by the name of Jason Perez he also helps me promote my artwork, I began to sale art at local stores like Wynwood shop, Wynwood tribe, BURO, in short the art thing began to work for me immediately…

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In all, it’s been a smooth road because I don’t deal with nonsense been that I’m a new artist, I humbled myself and didn’t get into any drama. I just painted focused on creating new pieces. And worked… in the short time that I been painting, I’m sure I have created thousands of pieces.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I will consider my style grafity pop art, I sure a lot of colors and bold lines. I specialized on illustration in the begging, I was known for doing the boo from Nintendo however I’m known for my bold outline and use of color. I’m most proud of my most recent body of work. my style and my reference material is a bit deeper then my contetarly.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I would say I was troublesome kid and defiantly gave my mom more than what she signed up for. However, I believe I was intelligent enough to not go off the deep end. I was always incrusted in comic books, history, art, hip hop, electronic music.
